Ok all! I'm wanting to increase my HP, but not wanting to install a supercharger. What mods would you suggest or greatest HP gains?

Cam, Nitrous, LT headers, CAI. But once you start increasing HP by alot youll be wanting to upgrade other parts like suspension and such

Define a lot. What kind of HP gains can I expect with a cam, headers, exhaust and tune?

Well some headers claim that with a tune they gain around 40hp alone. A cam is another huge gain. Intake will gain around 10 and a cat back yields almost zero as far as hp gains but you gain on the butt dyno because of the sound.

Look around the v8 dyno sheet thread.

Headers, intake, and tune can get you to around 370-380 rwhp for a L99. Dont know Ls3 gains off the top of my head.

A cam can get you anywhere from 60-100 rwhp. I think I saw someone with headers, intake, tune, night fury cam up to 485 or 490.

Look up a recent lethal racing build in the bolt on V8 section that got to 500 rwhp with no forced induction, no nitrous, etc.

Seemed like the most efficient (money wise) way to get the most bang for your buck.

Of all that, the butt dyno is probably the most important!

Hahaha

This is from Apex's header thread.

Quote:
This is the area that seems to cause the most confusion but it is fairly straight forward. Header manufacturers usually offer two or three options when is comes to primary diameters for a specific vehicle. For example, for the Camaro SS most manufacturers are offering 1 3/4 inch, 1 7/8 inch, and 2 inch primaries. Below are some pretty typical numbers for what you can expect from traditional 4-into-1 long tube headers on an otherwise stock SS:

Stock: 370 RWHP 375 RWTQ
1 3/4 headers with high flow cats: 400 RWHP 405 RWTQ
1 7/8 headers with high flow cats: 410 RWHP 410 RWTQ
2 headers with high flow cats: 415 RWHP 410 RWTQ

As you can see, simply switching from the restrictive stock manifolds to 1 3/4 long tube headers is worth approximately 30 RWHP and 30 RWTQ on a bone stock Camaro SS. The larger the primary diameter gets the more air the headers will flow and the further up the RPM range the power band is moved. The more powerful the engine is the more beneficial it is to go with a larger diameter, especially when you introduce forced induction. This means that generally the more power you make or the more race oriented your application is the bigger primary diameter you need, the closer to stock or the more street oriented the smaller primary diameter you need.

This is very helpful! Anybody have a ball park figure as to what headers, cam, exhaust and tune would run? All installed by a shop, of course!

That's determined by the shop of your choice and the parts you use. Find the shop you want to use and go talk to them. The parts list is in several threads. You should be able to find them with a search of this section. Several of our vendors have package deals that include all that you need. They'll need to know if you're a M6 or A6 and what your goals are for the car.

Thanks, Axis! I'll do a search for these items!

Look up XS power for your exhaust.

Brand name headers cost 1400 and 1300 for the pipes.

XS power is 900 for us or 1000 for international. It sounds bad ass!!!

People are swearing by em having no issues. I'm doing a cam install
with the money I saved

Wow! Big savings! checked them out and they sound like a good option. $900 for engine to tip seems like an awesome deal. Has anyone here used them yet?
