Hesitation, Jerking, Bucking At Start-up Only
I have a 2013 ss automatic camaro with less than 1,000 miles on it. Ever since I got the car, I sometimes notice that when I first start the car up and give it some gas, the car hesitates, jerks and bucks. This either happens in drive or in reverse.
However, the hesitation, bucking, jerking, etc. immediately stops once I get going and does not come back. It seems to only happen during the first start-up of the day. Anyone else have this? |

It is possible If the car is that new, im sure dealership put 87 octane gas in it.. that's a big NO NO. have you been putting 91 or 93 octane in it? you may need to do the fuse pull to get the computer out of low octane mode. Just do a search on fuse pull..

This is perfectly normal and has nothing to do with the fuel in the car.
The sensors throughout the car do not communicate with the computer control module until a certain temp is reached. As a result, you get the hesitation for the first few minutes of operation. This is well documented here on the site. Sift around through some of the older posts and you'll find additional info. |

@meshamey - I only use 93 octane and I went with the dealer to the gas station when they filled the car with 93 octane.
@TheHorse13 - good info. I mentioned it to the dealer and they had no idea what was causing it. |

I was searching through the site looking for threads on this issue and glad to find something current. I have this issue on an M6 and figured it was due to it not being warm, but wanted to find out for sure. Have a CAI on it and wondered if new throttle body would improve it, but if its the computer, not much will help that I assume.

Nothing will improve it. This is how the electronics on the car are designed to work.

I put my DIC to coolant temp and wait till 160 F. This seems to keep the engine and me happy.

@jethrobandit - if you decide to get a throttle body, let me know what one you get and if you see an improvement. I'm taking mine to the dealer once I approach 3000 miles so they can test everything.

The VMAX throttle body does not do anything for this. I have it as well going in reverse. Only way around it is let it run for about 30-60 seconds.
