Borla ATAK Axleback Review

I recently had the Borla Atak Axleback installed on my car. The fit and finish was good and easy to install since I already had an axleback on it.

The drone is terrible. I contacted Borla about this and they said it was my problem because the car has headers on it. Basically told me to pound sand.

Sure would have been nice to know that before I purchased it.

The GMPP Street Version Axle back does not have hardly any drone.

Just thought you all might want to know.

Just talked with Borla and they said that any system they sell will have DRONE if you have headers on your car.

Sound quality is never a warrantied thing or reason for return. Some people love really loud exhaust that is raspy and poppy, others want stuff that sounds nearly stock. One person's definition of "loud" or "drone" is different than another. The Atak with LT's is probaly one of the most aggressive setups you can buy for this car. That being said, That Atak is also one of our most popular exhaust now, and we have dozens of customers running them with LT's fine.

As a business, you really can't send $1000 exhausts out for people to try and then take them back if they don't like the sound. There is just not a sound business model in letting people pick through the exhaust produce so to say. Unfortunatly it is one of the biggest pitfalls of doing aftermarket exhaust. If your sensitive to drone, or rasp, or in general kinda of picky about exhaust, you need to do a lot of research before you buy. I normally tell people to go on the quiet side as it is easier to live with too quiet than too loud.

That being said, I think if you search for the Atak on here, you will find a lot of results showing it to be a very aggressive exhaust. As I recently posted, I tried the Atak on my own car with LT's and found it too loud. If you don't like the drone and think it is too loud, you will likely have to do the same thing I did myself and sell on on the for sale section here used.

I currently have the Stinger on my car, and it sounds good, and in my opinion does not "drone". That being said, the exhaust does have volume someone may be able to construe as drone.

Borla sucks plain and simple and their customer service is even worse. They should not misrepresent the truth.

I recommend taking off your Cats to eliminate the drone. I have the axle back atak system with headers but nearly no drone compared to what it was before the headers
