Low load low rpm spark timing (cammed ls3s)

With my car in storage I've been going through previous logs from last summer and I'm curious what guys are doing? I've bought the DVDs/books and nobody really explains if you should advance or retard this area of timing to help with surge. My car is very good and I can even put it in 6th and cruise at 1100 rpm in 6th gear with no bucking. But if I try to run 3rd in town at say 1400rpm it will buck unless I slightly accelerate. I've since discovered how to re-adjust my map zone and rpm boundaries to better help tune the ve table but it wasn't too bad to begin with prolly -6% to +3% using stfts as suggested by gpi. Min idle air don't really change this problem. Obliviously too much air and the car will drive itself but and I think it's pretty close to what it should be. Any advice from the pros on timing? Ive been street tuning and I've left that area of the table pretty much stock. There is advance added throughout the table but just not there. Should I try to tune this looking at vaccum? I think less timing would make sense since its alot less fuel than a stock car and it wouldn't need as much time to burn efficiently. Injection timing has been delayed 20ish degrees aswell which did help. Any ideas or pointers would be great!

I will log and see where its running as far as load while its in 6th lugging it since it seems to be happy there also leads me to believe less is better...

Hmm guess I will wait until the car is out and trial and error. I'm running the car in closed loop and it occurs pretty while steady state.

something else to keep in mind is that your cam might be allowing fresh air into the exhaust and causing your WB to read lean. this would mean you have tuned it too rich in that area if this is happening.

get your logs while surging and see what you did to the fuel maps in that area.
does it look out of line rich?
does it smell rich/smoke?

The timing isn't jumping around at all maybe .5 degree or so and fuel trims are acceptable. I delayed the injection timing to help with fuel being blown out the exhaust (short cicuited). That was done at idle watching the wideband in open loop...

I should add that it's not easily spotted in the log because its not jumping around a ton but I will just set the rpm up differently on my dashboard to help see rpm fluctuate. +-100 rpm of where it occurs

Anybody with decent sized cams have any experience with this?

when i had night fury cam it would buck under 1800 on decel. pulling timing down in those areas made it smooth as butter, in fact just for testing i was able to lug it down to 1000rpm with no bucking.
