The comment about being a first year car, no previous data, is correct, you pay based on car value. I bought a 1986 Acura Integra new, the next year insurance rates went WAY UP, based on accidents/ other data. Best to buy a 2010. My son pays $490/ 6 mo. for a 2006 Accord V-6 EXL (Lousiania) my 2SS RS is $388/ 6 mo.

Damn and I am waiting on the 2011 for financial reasons. Funny how your Camaro is cheaper to insure than your Civic SI.
Another insurance related question, I am still thinking about Victory Red with white rally stripes will my insurance be higher if I go with red?

I heard certain colors are more prone to theft, so I expected higher insurance rates for some colors.

This is tru, red cars i believe r the highest out of all the colors...as i was told, they stand out to police more nd r pulled over more often, because ppl with red cars tend to drive faster...its wierd

I have an 04 F-150 Supercab and a 2010 Camaro 2SS......36 and nothing on my record since a speeding ticket 17 years ago and an accident 18 years ago....full coverage $500 deductible all for something like $740 every 6 months......I have been with GEICO for years, and didn't shop around, but it seems reasonable.

Allot of parents are finding out that if their kids are on their policy and if they have an accident which exceeds the policies Med liability coverage. The plaintiff is/can coming after the parents assets to cover their med losses. I love my kids and will do for them what I can but to have a third party come in and take what I have worked hard for all my life is simply stupid. Parents....look into umbrella insurance policies for this type of situation. Hey kids no disrespect; but don't diss your folks for them protecting themselves by not covering you on their policy. should research costs prior to jumping into a car you can't afford to cover. IMO

I second the umbrella policy suggestion. A small price to pay for a little more protection. And it covers your home, too, not just the autos.
