No, it's 4, the RFID on the switchblade is in the FOB, not the key blank just like it's in the black plastic on the replacement key, not in the metal key itself.

Got it, 4 is what I thought it should be. Reason I asked if it was 6 is because your other post said both the FOB & KEY had a RFID chip "FYI, each FOB as well as each key has an RFID chip in it"

Just did mine! The key shank on the recall key looks like it was literally pulled out of the FOB and they just molded a key handle around it. Took 2 minutes to grind away the plastic enough to pull the key skank out, then put it back in it's home and pinned, another 2 minutes. DONE!

Don't know if there different for different years or if it makes a difference in a USA delivered car.

Yes both the Fob and the Key have the chip in it. So the new setup has 4 devices configured with the car.

I plan on doing this to one of my keys as I hate the new key. Especially since it still has the old FoB with it.

That is what I am wondering. One guy PMd me that he does it and orders some kit of pins and finds one in it that fits. I found a lil nail that would work and I could cut it to length. Not sure what would keep it in.

Had to take ours in for a new slave cylinder Tuesday. The dealer told me they won't do the recall automatically. They stopped doing it cause too many bitched about it.

Never thought I would hear that.

A locksmith is currently working on one of my FOBs. He ordered a five pack of the blank "blade keys" and will cut it for me and install it into the FOB. He does it all the time. This way I get an extra key for a low cost and can carry just the FOB around. Something I'm sure a lot of you do or want to do.

What does a locksmith charge?

Today, I removed the plastic from my separate key and took the blade to my dealer along with the fob. He installed the blade into the fob for free while I waited. Dealers have a little kit specifically for doing this, since they have to do it whenever then cut a new key for a customer.

Well my locksmith is a friend of my dad so he's doing me and him a favor. I've seen people on here that paid around $15-30 to get it done. Shouldn't be much at all. You can buy one blank blade on amazon for $9 and just bring it to a locksmith to cut and install.

For the life of me I couldn't get the stupid pin to go in!
Thinking of just getting blanks cut. Has anyone used this service or one like it? Seems a little sketchy...
