so the other night i passed a local mustang shop where they had about 7-8 mustangs lined up in the parking lot and one on a dyno, so i figured what the hell... i rolled by slowly (no traffic behind me) and put it in neutral (auto A6) and rev'd it up to let the muffler delete roar a little for them. just for some friendly camaro vs mustang fun. but my rpms stuck at 4,000 rpms for about 3-4 seconds and then finally started to slowly climb back down.

this has happend about 10 other times, anyone know why or a fix? really really really irritates me when i want a little blip of throttle to hear the exhaust and it sticks at a high rpm.

my friend had this happen recently on his silverado, turned out to be the butterfly in the throttle body , it broke off and was sticking open but don't know if ours has the same design or not.

Time to get out the carb cleaner and clean your throttle body.

It is sticking open from all the build-up probably at where the shafts enter the housing.

hmm may have to do that then, would it also do it while in gear? only notice the problem in neutral
