FYI they are building hov interchanges on the 10 at 202 and at the 101 and 202 which may result in weekend freeway closures. Check the azdot website for closures that weekend

Regarding Tags newest route and the comment above, If closures, then why nor skip the airport traffic/curves and drop south on the 51 or the 143? I bet the AZPD may feel better about that one. Have you checked with Nick and AZ All gens for some help with PD?
If it will fly I concure on the latest route proposed by Tag.

I need to make a few calls this morning since the route is changing. But, if we go this route, we will be removing one hitch holding us back.

Let me call and see if this is doable.

Actually there was a weekend closure going southbound on the 101 between the 202 and US60 this weekend. Probably best to call ahead and see if there are any closures the weekend of the cruise. Not sure if its possible to move the cruise to Friday evening to avoid these closures, I heard that bounced around a little bit earlier in the thread.

Nah...no one is going to go for a Friday night cruise. I already discussed that with a few of the AZDOT guys and the officers doing the escort don't want to have too much traffic problems (with rush hour). AZDOT wouldn't approve our permit if we wanted to do this on a Friday either.

We won't need to worry about construction too much. AZDOT wants us to do this...they want it to work. The feeling I got this morning was that if we were coming through, they'd do what they needed so we could pass. It was a rather good conversation and quite frankly, I like working with these guys...really nice. They just need one piece of freaking paper from us to go ahead with this!

AGH!

Now...going to submit that new route and see what they say. If they say it's a go, then we won't need to worry about anyone or anything else. Then we need to finalize INS and submit it to our police escort. We should be good then.

This is going to be a blast and reminds me of when I went on a couple of Hot Rod Power Tours.

Correct. Host hotel. Saturday morning. Start lining up at 8am and we leave at 8:30am...give or take.

Not set in stone.

If we don't get the insurance paperwork by this Friday, there will be no cruise.

But, if you look up top at the latest map, that is the route that is currently being worked by ADOT.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but if what I'm reading is correct, the new route you are trying that runs on the 202 past Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe will be going at the same exact time as the Pat Tillman will be happening. I've ran in it the past 3 years and I'm running again this year..... so no cruise for me :( The run will host 25 to 30 thousand people, so as you can see, it's a pretty big deal.

The area around Tempe will be a nightmare for traffic and there will be delays on the 202 with people trying to get off at exits around the stadium. Some info for you....
