About to Blow Up....Long Read

Ok, so Im getting a lot annoyed. Some of you may or may not of remembered that my dealership delivered my car with scratches on the paint and stripes. They replaced the front only stripes through a 3rd party vendor and they didn't match at all. Replaced the complete set after that.

Several weeks ago, I had a sever tapping noise coming from under my hood, and for the 4th time in a few months had to be without my car while they fixed a bad ac compressor.

About a week and a half ago, I was chaning the oil and I noticed dripping oil coming off the frame and from the engine area. Took it to the dealership and on the drive there it started really to lose oil. Service tech took a look and the part number I gave them turned out to be the engine oil cooler blew. They asked me how long ago I changed the oil and I told them about 2 days ago, he checked the oil and it wasn't much lower than what it should be and told the service rep it would be ok to drive it while they wait for a day or two till the part came in. Now all three of us were standing in the shop in a giant puddle of oil under my car. I asked him if he was sure this was fine to drive and the mech said absolutely. So no rental car for me. Drove it to work and the car was spitting oil all over the back of the car.

Took the car in two days later when the part came in and showed them the extent of the oil all over the back of the car on the brakes burned all over the exhaust. They agreed to detail my car.

When the work was done took delivery of my car and immediately went to the back bumper and noticed crazy scratches all over the stripes and trunk area. Service rep agree's its there and not nice, and states..."well that is what happens when you wash cars". I told him to spot anywhere else on my car he could find scratches like that from me washing it.

In the end, my paint is scratched, my stripes are scratched, now my brakes squeal (to which they showed me a pip that stated brembo's should squeal its normal), and the ticking noise that they couldn't hear is still there and the empty kettle noise they couldn't replicate.

Im guessing the ticking noise is lifter tap, and the drone noise is AFM or exhaust rattle noise (which is addressed in a TSB from GM).

It was "seen" by a district specialist over the noise concerns and he is the one who decided the brake noise is normal and couldn't replicate any other noise.

Im trying to resolve this through GM headquarters (not customer service) and they apologized and offered me a 2 year 24 month maitenance program. Free tire rotation, oil change, fluids changed. I let her know that Im not looking for anything free, just my car to drive like it should and look they way I handed it to them. Not only that my oil was just changed and all fluids changed and the tires don't even get rotated so essentially this was all but useless to me.

Any idea's on how to handle this before I drive this car through their front doors?

Nah...just drive it through the front lobby and ask for some complimentary coffee. But if you don't want to go that route, the best solution I've seen people use was to not give up. Keep the pressure on them until they have no other option but to fix the problems. And I know the feeling of taking your car into the shop knowing that it might come out with more problems. But a word of advise, don't let the dealer clean or wash your car, do it yourself because the only person that cares about your car is you.

That's the thing, I have never let them wash my car before. They told me they had to, in order to address the oil damage on the car. Even then I begged them to be careful when trying to clean it off. Turns out they weren't so careful.

First of all, you should be also directly talking to the owner of the dealership regarding your issues & the incompetent people providing poor service. Make the owner feel your frustration & pain - then get their commitment of fixing your car 100%.....

Second, once resolved, quickly locate another reputable dealer.....best of luck!

Look in your manual for 'Dispute Resolution'. Follow those steps like a flow chart.

Sounds like you've already done two or three of the steps. Gotta go through BBB before you can go through arbitration, and court. Let's hope you get squared up before it gets that far, but you've agreed to the process when you purchased the car. Good Luck.

There is a TSB on the brake squeal, just do a search in the nav above and print the TSB slide it under their nose and tell them you want it fixed. It's a warranty service the dealership should be happy to do it.
