RS package really worth it

well looks like im going to be taking the SS over the Boxster. i think payments will be alot easier for me plus insurance and and modding it will be alot cheaper too. anyway i want to put the RS package on my SS. do you guys think the RS package is really worth getting on a black SS?
im not looking to spend more than $32-$33K. if it goes more than that im welling to wait a little longer so a slightly used one comes around. but the queston is it worth the money you pay? or is it better to get the regular and add all the RS options later on?

If you want the RS package items get it now because they'll be difficult/expensive to install later on. But no, I don't think the RS package is worth it. I like the regular headlights so...

In my opinion, yes. The RS package is definitely worth it. However, I am looking at a 2SS, instead of the 1SS. A lot of it is personal preference, though. I really like the halos and HID lights (which is basically what you're paying for if you get a 2SS). The other stuff is secondary for me.

Oh, and congrats on exercising your masculinity by not buying a Boxster. =P I kid, I kid.

I think factory installed HID's are worth the cost of the RS package. But, if you are on a tighter budget, it is definitely something that can be left off your order. I like both headlights, so I wouldn't feel "bad" about leaving the RS off.

I pondered the same thing for a long time, then decided to go ahead and add the RS package to my SIM 2SS. HID's are really the best headlight set-up, and would cost alot more to add later on. I also truely believe that down the road, having an RS/SS car, like back in the late 60's, will bring more value to the car.

I think you made the right choice.

Even with the 1SS totally bone stock, with sales taxes you are already at $33k unless you live in a no car sales tax state like New Hampshire or South Dakota or something. With dealer fees, you'll be slightly over your budget.

My budget is about the same as yours and I definitely intend to get the RS package on my 2SS. I think trying to get the same after-market would probably end up costing more. I opted not to get HIDs on my 350Z and when I got around to buying aftermarket, after installation it was more than what I would've paid if I had just gotten a higher-level model in the first place.

stupid question guys but what is the difference between 2SS and 1SS?

what im really digging about the RS package though is the Wheels and Halos which i really want. later on im even trying to turn the halos red like the one in my avatar. with a switch ofcourse to turn them off around cops lol. but somewhere i read its gonna be around $3000 for the RS package. if thats the case then i think ima suck it up and go for it.

but what is the difference between 1SS and 2SS?

RS package is $1200 for the SS. 2SS will get you leather heated seats, ambient lighting (supposedly), convienence and connectivity package standard (usb port, bluetooth, etc). There are lots of docs around here with the differences, I'll try to find one for you.

IMHO, the $1200 for the RS package is worth it just for the halos alone. I have always loved halos back to when BMW first started using them.

So yes, I say definitely get the RS package

1SS has cloth interior

2SS has leather, more electronic amenities like USB port, upgraded sound system, Bluetooth, etc. There's a PDF on Chevy's website.

why is everyone getting the RS package for the halos?
I got it for the projector headlights and the small detail like painted roof moldings and darker tinted tails.

Why would you go from a Boxter to a 1SS? Spend the extra $3k and get the 2SS you'll still be saving money over that slow Boxter.
