It is just a DOT approved helmet you need right? The regular helmet I have is DOT approved Bell helmet with no face mask (I think they call it a 3/4 helmet where it covers the ears and head but not the face).

I'm bringing 2 helmets incase I have someone in the passenger seat!
Pretty slack tech in Georgia. I packed my helmet all the way to Orlando on the plane and didn't need it. Matter of fact I walked right up to the Avis rental counter with my helmet bag.

[QUOTE=mlee;2923277]I'm sure if you make a 10 sec pass a roll cage will be required... Trying to find out what those limits are..

...and at what time do you have to have a helmet? 13.5 or faster..[/QUOT

13.99 or quicker.

Actually it should be a SNELL 2005 for NHRA Tech.

You might want to read the earlier posts, Firebird Raceway required helmets that are SA 2005 helmets or newer(checked them during tech inspection) for the drag racing when we were there for Super Chevy, NHRA rules, so you're DOT helmet won't meet it for Drag Racing and probably not for Autocross either. They did have helmets to borrow for the Autocross when we were last there.

Both my helmets are Snell M2005 which according to the NHRA rule book should be good. I participate at my home track in the NHRA Street Legal program and a M 2005 is good. I have no intention of buying another helmet just for C5F II. Perhaps I should bring an NHRA rule book with me.

Yeah, my helmet is DOT, that's why I'm returning it, won't be a ble to use it at the drag.

10. Helmets: Drivers of all vehicles running 13.99 or quicker, and ALL convertibles regardless of E.T., must wear an SFI-approved helmet with a Snell rating of 2000 or newer. Passengers in convertibles running 14.00 and slower must also wear an approved helmet. (Note: DOT-only helmets are not permitted. SFI-approved helmets are not permitted if the Snell label inside the helmet is missing or illegible. In other words, a Snell-rating on the outside of the helmet is not good enough.)

As of February 1, 2006 all vehicles with an aftermarket power adder, (nitrous, turbocharger, or supercharger) running faster than 13.99 will be required to wear an SFI approved fire jacket

I did notice the web page was not updated since like 2007 and the nhra rule and the scca rule is a 10 year limit on rating so I am betting it will be a snell 2005 or 2010 rating to qualify.

http://www.firebirdraceway.com/web/streetdrags.html

Correct. That's the way I read it and the NHRA track that I run Pumpkin at enforces it that way. I posted a pic of the Snell rating sticker some place in previous posts. I'll take another pic and posted it soon.

Here it is. Now mine is Snell 2005, but 2000 is still good. So SA, MA and M 2000 - 2005 are all good. Snell sticker must still be attached to the inside of the helmet as pictured.
