Did anyone notice the zl1 wheels are .5 wider then the Recommended size

Factory 2012 Camaro ZL1 tires and wheels
Rear 305/35-20 = 28.4" tall, 11.0 wheel

Recommended 20" tires for 2010 Camaro
305/35-20 = 28.4" tall, 10.0-10.5 wheel

Hello, I've recently bought a Camaro LS and I'm trying to get rid off those Heritage Wheels and replacing them with something more stylish. My budget doesn't allow me to change the wheels yet, I'll do that next year and planning to use a tire edge narrower than the one it comes. I've read the suggest wheel/tire section, and I've asked around, someone who wants to sell me some wheels says it would fit the tires that comes with the LS (245/55-18 if I'm correct) and the wheel size he is trying to sell me are 18x9.0 35 offset. As I said, it is not recommended, in the Wheel/Tire section but would it still match? Will it give me problems, as I said, choosing these wheels since next year I'll switch tires with a thinner border and those would fit better with the 18x9.0. Any expert, any advice if I'll have problems? Thanks.

Issue number #1. Tire Rack.com is suggesting I keep my stock tire size despite the fact that I want to go from 18x8 to 18x9, that can't possibly be right. That will make the tire diameter less then 28.2 inches.

#2. I am looking at 18x9 wheels with 30mm offset and 7" of backspacing. The best tire size according to this sticky is 275/50-18 or 265/50-18. However I can't find this size tire anywhere.

So what's the point of offering this size wheel if there are no tires that fit properly, and why does tirerack tell you to put way smaller tires then you should have on these wheels?

I don't want to go to 20" wheels but I also don't see the point of buying 18x8 wheels as that will not allow me to run anything wider then 255/55-18 tires, which won't even be noticable vs stock.

I have new 20x9.5 front and 20x11 rear wheels. Just wanted to make sure, would the stock tires from the ZL1 be a good fit for these? I have an SS, and this would make locating and purchasing tires much more painless. I'm hoping these tires won't throw off systems and will fit nicely.

Thanks!

I sure hope the tire shop talked you out of that combination! Those tires are WAY too narrow for those width rims!

i just got the car back and the reason i got them that size was so i can lower it and the tires wont hit the fender cuz of the 20mm offset but im not so sure about the 35 i kinda wish i would of went with 40 on tire height

The big problem will come when you roll the tire off the rim! That tire is stretched beyond a safe distance and the shop that put those on should be avoided at all costs!
