ZL1 swap or aftermarket rear end
I have had many upgrades to my car and I've toasted 2 rear ends. I was hoping for some advice. I can switch swap to a ZL1 rear or go with the unlimited aftermarket choices. I have apox 620 rwhp and matcjing torque. Any suggestions would be welcomed

What's the cost for each option? You have to look at the cost:benefit ratio of each package. There are a number of modified ZL1s running ~700 RWHP with no reported failures that have been seriously beat on in testing.

Zl1 rear is under 4k. Looks like after market is 6k plus. I put 4:10 gears in right away toasted the gears at 500hp with a nice 6500 shift into third. I replaced with same gears didn't shift at 6500 anymore. Upgraded the motor to 630 and after a few months the rear is shot.

If I were you I would install factory ZL1 subframe and rear including axels etc. Not sure of cost byt under 5K. Aftermarket gears do not have a very good reputation. The factory ZL1 ratio is 3:70. Good Luck

I agree. Having trouble securing all the parts from GM. That's why I have been investigating aftermarket stuff. Gm says they sell it as a package but I can't find it anywhere but can order all the individual parts but some parts aren't available.

Any gear ratio suggestions ? I hear 4:10 and boost don't mix well ? About drive shafts, is it worth to get a single piece and is it worth it to get carbon fiber? Thanks

In case anyone goes down the same road. Zl1 rear isn't available until may. I couldn't wait because rear is shot. DSS makes a good rear.
