No, you don't but they sound crappy anything other than 100% open or 100% closed. Otherwise it just sounds like a leaky exhaust.

I have had mine on for a while. I rarely drive with them open. With headers and cutouts it insane. They are great for shows though.

I installed my own and have installed several sets on coupes. There are several options and I am sure you can fit them on the vert with the braces. I like SUX's brace. Looks cool!

Anyhow, I'd love to know what BeckyD charges for cutuouts with install. I have heard some people paying rediculas amounts to have them installed.
As in my Sig, I have the QTP Oval Low-Profile Cut-Outs and that is what Becky@RodgersCherolet.com installs. They sound great @ 20% and @ 50% as well as 100%. 0% sometimes has the slightest bit of rattle if I really punch it. Here is my cut-out schedule:

0% - Windows up, Top up
20% - Windows down, top up
50% - Top down me only
100% - Top down, wife and I

Here is my schedule:

CLOSED - 99% of the time the car is in motion
CLOSED - 90% of the time the car is still

FULL OPEN - 1% of the time in motion and 10% of the time still when I feel like waking the dead.

Stieger... my wife is the one who convinced me to get mine she said she wanted loud! I had to oblige!

@Steiger - This is the same for me! She said my car didn't sound fit for a man from the dealer. She likes the sound of it when it sounds like her dad's old PowerBoat with the gurgle at low RPM's

The $1000 includes the cost of the cutouts (QTP = $400). I said about. Rodgers was going to charge me $975 OTD.

It all depends on placement. IrocanSS did mine and per modern math my cut outs only cost 40 miles at 80mph. I have 2" primarys going into a 3" catback. They are mounted immediately before the mufflers. Closed and it's nice and quiet. Open and you can cruise around town all day with a nice throaty rumble. It was some local cops that told me I should keep them open. Now if I were to put the pedal to the floor then it is really loud but theres no reason to do that on the streets unless you're racing so normal cruising is just fine and I have had lots of compliments.

Just want to add that at highway speed I do get a drone but I had that before the cutouts. It usually only takes bumping the cruise up or down 3-4 mph and it will go sweet spot and you'll lose the drone and barely hear the exhaust with the cutouts open

I have always been into cars, but hey, I'm a girl and have no idea about exhausts except I want my Camaro to be louder when I want . So I have no idea what you just said except that the sound you get is awesome and get compliments on it.

I just need a way that doesn't mess with the integrity of the braces and where I don't have to replace the stock exhaust parts (I am a widowed mother of a 6 yo & 4 yo, so I want to keep the cost down as much as possible).

So.... Like I said... I charge $500 INCLUDING THE COST OF THE CUT OUTS which I can get for less than $400 but whatever... so they are charging $575 just to install a $400 cutout. Day-um. It takes me 4 hours without a lift. I could easily do it in 3 with a lift...

Either I am grossly undercharging or someones getting ripped off.

Ooops I missed the including...

This is a dealership we are talking about... nothing is cheap there. I just wanted everything done at once. Since they can't do it at this time, I will check around and see who else can do cutouts and will put the new brace on for less. I have a friend that has a body shop that might be able to help me.

Cool... no worries, youre right dealers are MUCH more expensive. I do not have a shop, I just have a welder and the ability to cut the stock exhaust. I really just do it for fun. I have installed about 4 or 5 sets so far and I have two sets in "stock". If you were closer, I'd say to bring your car to me but thats not going to work as the cost of getting here and spending the night would make it not worth it. I am about 5 hours south of you and it takes about 4 hours without messing with the braces since I don't have a lift... a one day shot would be a lot for you.

Here is where I mount them:

With these low profile oval cut out I bet I could get them to fit with the stock braces in place. All it would take is a little exhaust cutting and rewelding. Too bad you aren't in TX.
