Dirt Track / Off Road Camaro
Getting ready to (90% sure) make a move out to the countryside due to a life change. House I'll probably be living in is on a gravel road and the closest city with decent pay for work is about 65 miles away. Commute would end up being probably 15-20 miles of gravel and 40 miles of highway and interstate.
While I've not come to terms with parting ways with the car (it took me way too long to get back into a car after 20 years of SUV's/Minivans/Trucks) I've accepted it might have to be an option. I'd like to find some decent fender flares, maybe some Cragar Soft 8's or something similar and make the thing a little more dirt road worthy. Driving 5 mph isn't an option. Haven't seen anyone do anything like that on here yet. Has anyone got any ideas or options I'm not aware of without making it look like something out of a Death Race movie or just gaudy as hell?

Buy an old Toyota to commute with.

Yeah that's the obvious answer that if I'd chosen, I'd not have asked the question. Not a point in having a Camaro I never drive. I didn't buy it to look at and sit in the garage.

3m clear protection for the hazard areas along with some wheel guards to reduce what hits the car

If you were to turn it into a "Death Race" / Mad Max car, there might be some who would hold it against you. I, however, would rever you like a God.
My vote is to go that route, and send pics. Do it now. |

Between the commute and those gravel roads your Camaro will be a junker pretty quick. Buy a Toyota 4x4 or something. 600 miles a week in those conditions will destroy your Camaro.

I commute 70 miles every day in my car...country roads, gravel, sand, salt, pot oles, dumb asses, deer, elk, dumb asses. The car has done great! just turned 60k miles on my 14. Clear Bra is a must, and be aware of what you do. Also depending on where you live summer tires are a wish in a breeze. My temperatures vary too much and the all seasons have done great by me for summer, and snows go on in December. |

What tires do you run? Are the all seasons speed rated? I try to use my truck in total crap weather, but have been caught in the snow/ice once with it. I average 1000 miles a week when I take it to work, so I need some more DD friendly tires eventually. The Goodrichs that were on when I bought it obviously werent great past dry warmish roads, P-zeros on it now that I got for a steal. The p-zeros are wayyyy too easy to get loose on dry road. Rain is scary. I envy you on those ice/snow road pictures.

You may want to clean out the inside of the front bumper from time to time after commuting over dirt and gravel. A huge amount of debris is drawn into the car from those roads.
