Kooks and stainless works headers install question

I have narrowed down my header selection to the 1 7/8 KOOKs or Stainless works.

DO you have to remove the steering shaft to install either of these headers? I would really like to avoid doing that if possible.

I think Stainless tells you to remove the one bolt from the shaft and move it out of the way. It looks like that one bolt is hard to get to.

No removal here either...install couldn't have been easier (installed in my garage all by my lonesome).

But do you have to remove the bolt?

KOOKs headers have some type of leak proof collector gasket system thingy I am to understand as well. I am leaning the Kooks direction. I will have the coin next week.

Just ordered 1 7/8 KOOKs (had them on my Pontiac G8 GT and LOVED them) with high flow cats and gasket. Shipped yesterday ! Can't wait to get them and put them on. $1200 for everything including shipping felt like a great deal.

Kooks uses a ball & socket connection at the collector.

Thanks!! I get it now. I assume there is no gasket at all. More like a compression type of fitting. At least it makes sense to me that way. So how is this better or worse than the slip in clamp connection the stainless has?

Yes...it's pretty much that.

I've have Kooks on my car and was easy to install. No leaks with the ball/socket connection. I helped a friend install ARH which use a slip fit connection and the were no leaks on his car either.

I have the SW headers and I did remove the shaft bolt to make things as easy as possible. No leaks here either.
