To make a long story short, my camaro has a computer alarm and compustar dash cam system. So a couple mins after parking, walking to the entrance of the mall, my alarm went off. So of course I go back and check and a van with a family comes out. So at a distance I stand and stare at them to let them know that's my car they just hit. I didn't check what happened to the car until I was too paranoid walking around in the mall to see what happened. So at the camaro I see the door ding they put in there with paint missing and all. So of course I blow my top but I thought smart and went into detective mode, taking pictures. I left a note behind explaining what happened to include what there options were and a call back number. So after intercepting the driver, I calmly told him what he knowingly did and he started stuttering and looking down. So he asked how much it would be to do the repair and he didn't believe what I was telling him. so both of us drove to the chevy dealer and got the estimate for $550 to repair the driver door. He ended up paying because he didn't want the police involved after I had him on camera hitting my car. Glad I got the W bc I refused to pay for anything.will add pics later.

So is the dent in the door going to be painted for $550 or is the dealer using pdr & touch up paint? For some reason I feel sorry for the family that was in the van that just got ripped by a dealer quote of $550...You're in a mall parking lot, accidents happen. Why park there? Yea it sucks you got a dent and need a little touch up, and people should respect others property and all, but looked where you parked!....

I fix dents for a living and still park away from everyone.

anytime i do go, i park on the top floor (roof) where 9 times out of 10 im alone but as many times i have been and as much as i hate it, this is the first time it happened.

That's a lot of trouble for a...scratch...that's dwarfed by those dirt spots on the fender.
Like some touch up paint and a little time would fix that. $550 was a rip to an almost innocent family. Kind of a dick move to them. Yeah sure I would be pissed, but I would feel worse making them pay $550 to fix such minor damage to already cheap paint.

I don't know... I see both sides. Yeah, $550 is high, it's a lot to pay. But then, they shouldn't be banging doors in parking lots. Who knows how many other times they did it and got away with it? I don't bang doors, do you? So they got screwed... they caused it themselves.
