My story

Long time lurker, rare poster. On oct 09' I was patrolling my area when the local Chevy dealership had a 2010 IOM RS V6 for sale. Bought it that day and been in love with it since. All your posts on here gave me the inspiration to mod my car like crazy. Just like you all here I've enjoyed showing her off.

Well on memorial day of this year(oh I'm a police officer in st Louis co) I was canvassing the area for a burglar. Long story short, he ambushed me and I was shot 3 times. One round penetrated my spinal cord rendering my legs to not have any feeling or movement. I am grateful though for the chance given to me to continue my life on this world.

The part I do feel is my passion for modding and driving my camaro have been taken feom me. I have been told I can still enjoy driving with modifications. I post this to see if any one put there is in a wheel chair and can offer any advise on what I would need.

I thank you all for the topics to read and hear my wife still say, "are you on that damn camaro site again" lol

Sorry for your misfortune also. Thank you for your service as a police officer and the sacrifices you made for the public. I dont have the answers to your question but I know you deserve to drive your Camaro again. The sooner the better.

Your story made me bust some tears out man! That is sad! Thanks for being a good cop! I hope that you get this sorted out and are able to enjoy driving your Camaro again! I had a friend who's uncle lost a leg in a tractor accident. He was still able to drive after but he had this special device that put the gas pedal where the automatic transmission was and the breaks where programmed into the wheel!

Thank you all for the kind words. We all put on the uniform knowing the risks but we do it anyways. I love what I do and would go back to work tomorrow with out a thought of doubt. I will drive my camaro one day just have to rig something up!

There is a member here with a yellow bumble bee camaro who is in a wheel chair, he has it set up so he can still drive it, to the best of my knowledge. he was at the florida camaro rally, someone else might remember his name but i bet he could help you out. so sorry to hear your story but i'm very happy to hear you are keeping your passion and love for the camaro and staying a car enthusiast and the wife comment is funny because i catch crap all the time from constantly looking at this site!

we had a gentleman in our camaro club that was in a wheel chair & he had a 93 pace car that he just loved, He set everything up for hand controls.

Heres a youtube vid of someone for his '12 camaro
