Knock sound emanating from rear of car

Has anyone experienced a knock (single) sound emanating from the rear of the car when engaging the clutch and shortly thereafter turning either left or right.
The excellent tech at the authorized Chevrolet dealer that has been servicing my
Corvettes for years duplicated the 1 (One) knock sound and has some ideas of what the cause.may be. Parts have been ordered prior to proceeding to a successful diagnosis and correction of the issue.

mine made more of a "pop" sound once or twice but I just ignored it. It sounds like a rear end clutch pack disengagement or something like that. After a few track events, I haven't noticed it anymore. It did it during break in 0-1500 miles only.

I believe there was a service bulletin on it to replace the diff fluid, mine has popped and banged since new but it sounds just like a locker to me. No worries as I don't expect this car to be smooth like Cadillac lol.

Mine use to pop during the break in usallly while turning in or out of a driveway going slow but I have not heard it in months I have changed the diff oil twice since I track the regularly ...You might want to search the post around the beginning of the year I remember a member posted about taking his car to the dealer for popping but I don't remember the outcome.

I thought that the rear diff was a Torsen worm gear type, not a clutch pack type.

Zero-preload limited-slip differential. The differential has a concentric helical gear and allows continuous torque biasing between drive wheels.

clutch pack or not it sounds/feels like a mechanical release of some sort. Mine seems to have lessened with time.

It honestly sounds similar to a detroit locker, my K5 Blazer has one out back and it makes some funny noises sometimes. I can really hear it in the mornings backing out of my driveway or when maneuvering around tight parking lots.

I asked right away at my first turn around the dealer. I thought someone launched the car and broke the rear end.

This car has character. Hopefully GM build a new Z/28 on the 6th gen.

Yes they do! That's why I love it! Seriously it reminds me of a rowdy old muscle car with phenomenal grip and brakes haha.

I also asked the dealer to investigate a popping noise coming from the right rear passenger area every time the chassis twisted hard (typically when entering a driveway at an angle). This is apparently a known issue with the fifth-generation Camaro, as there are reports online going back to at least 2012 and Chevrolet has issued a service bulletin with a fix: hit it with a hammer. No, really. The invoice says "dimple frame/sheet metal to correct oil canning noise." In practice, it means whack the right spot under the car with a hammer and put a nice dent in it so that piece of metal will stop flexing and making the noise. Then patch any damage done to the paint. Sounds pretty shade tree, but it worked.

I know this is an old thread but I hear a knocking sound usually in the morning on my 15ss with 2k miles on it. The sound usually goes away after a few minutes.
