QUESTION ON HEADER TUNE POWER

I have searched many threads on LT headers and I see with a tune you can expect 40hp. What I do not see are peoples reaction to the new power added to the car. Is it because the LS3 has 426 already that you do not feel it that much? I have only heard people say how good their car sounds now but nothing really about the way the car drives. I would appreciate some input as I am having LT cats and xpipe installed tomorrow and I am wondering what to expect besides a change in sound. Thank you

Oh...you'll definately notice the power....especially on a cool night.

Use to I would turn off traction control, get a starting roll, dump the clutch and hammer it. I would lay down about a 6' set of S marks in the street.

Now when I do the same.....It's pretty much non stop. You will hit the rev limiter (which I've done once or twice) if you don't feather the throttle. You better be holding on and going straight with no traffic the first couple times you do it.

There may or may not be much feedback in the threads, but I can promise that you will feel that difference. 40 ponies is close to a 10 percent increase in power, you're going to know it.

It is noticable and I highly recommend it but if you have owned other LS motored cars in the past dont expect the same feel. I think the weight really hides the new found power. When you add 50hp in a LS1,2,3,6,7,9 Corvette you really, really know it. Same went for Ls1 F-body. I had all my bolt ons and tune done at the same time and it didnt feel like as much of a jump in power as when I just had Headers and tune only installed on my 4th gen which already had many other bolt ons.

Vader, that is interesting and what I have been concerned about. The weight is significant. However, when cornering and ejecting out of turns one should feel the HP gains I would think.

I was really torn between doing this or the Phadt sways and coils but I have the cash now for the headers and the other two I can do in pieces and install myself. Does that sound like the right choice?

It's up to you. I DEFINITELY noticed a difference when I put my kooks LT's on. What will really show you the difference is drive someone's near stock SS, then drive yours again. i thought mine felt slower (because i've gotten used to it), i went and drove someone elses SS and that thing was a PIG, got back in mine, and my lord it scared me haha. Good luck!
