Suspension dilemma?

I have a 2014 1le.

I want to lower it a little. And I have some Megan coilovers that I bought for my 2011 ss. But I traded up to the 1le before I got a chance to install the coilovers.

Is it better to put on low end coilovers or keep my 1le shocks and add bmr springs.

I heard that coilovers are always better than lowered springs. But is that also true with low end coilovers?

I basically loves how it rides now, I just want it a little lower. And I'm afraid that low end coilovers will make it ride worse.

I think you know the answer to your question: ) 1LE shocks would hands down beat those coilovers.

If you really really really need to lower your car, I suppose you could use lowering springs; the less the better!

I was thinking of adding lowering springs until I can get some good coilovers. For me it's mostly about adding some spring rate without over taxing the 1LE dampers.

It's hard to ruin it if you do it very mildly, so if I were to do, lowering it 0.5"-1" max would be what I would go with. Call me a skeptic, but I don't trust the data regarding the impact of lowered springs, not because I think people lie, but since it's very hard to quantify the impact unless you can do same day back-to-back comparisons. As such, I'd try to stay in the safe side, especially considering you track your car.

I wouldn't be going more than 1". I figure since the 1LE uses SS springs that the dampers are capable of more rate. Most lowering springs are close to a 220/440 rate which isn't too much more. Pete is using Z28 springs with 1LE dampers with success and they are 300/500ish. Coilover is the best but I don't have the coin to get a good track set yet.

Sounds like a plan, and good point on 1LE using the same spring rates.
