Tinted my 2014 tail lights, kinda!

I hate the tail light chrome. On my 2011 it was an easy fix. On the 2014 its much harder to get rid of since the chrome is under the lens glass.

I tried several different kinds of blackout tape, but because of the shape nothing would stick.

A couple of days ago I bought tail light tint and cut out a thin strip to only cover the chrome.

So far it seems to be working!

In the picture the left side is done and the right side is stock.

I agree. It looks much better with the chrome covered up. I used plastidip to cover mine.

Can't we all just agree that the 50s are over and chrome looks awful on modern cars.

How did you get such a nice edge on your plastidip?

Since I had to cover up plastic and I didn't have any automotive quality tape, I used electrical tape because it has some flex to it. The edge turned out great, but I did have to pull off the tape right after spraying the final coat (I did 5 or 6 coats about a minute apart). The only thing I would do differently is to make the plastidip go all the way to the end of the light on the outside edge instead of stopping where the chrome stops. But I think it looks way better being black instead of chrome especially on a yellow Camaro.

Did you plastidip them on the car or did you take off the tail lights?
