My only concern is the actual importing on a temp basis and do they allow it. Per your comments, it appears they don't. I can ship to Europe no problem. Maybe I will go play there instead. |

One of the guys who works with me sold his '34 Ford street rod to someone in Australia . He ended up going through a broker. It is serious business to import a car to a foreign country. Emissions and safety items (such as break-away mirrors and yellow turn signals) come into play.

Wow I understand wanting to go to car clubs, but Japan? And short vacation? Im sure theres car clubs here youve not been to. Seems like a waste of a LOT of money for not much enjoyment if you ask me.

I was looking at an r34 skyline once but did not like the price of shipping and they said customs would take around 6 months to approve everything and inspect.

Are you familiar with the Japanese culture and if so, do you really forsee them wanting to pal around with you just because you brought a Camaro with you?

The best part about getting your car back from Japan after a short term vacation will be trying to reassemble it after they tore it completely apart trying to find the drugs you were thought to be smuggling.

Didn't you see Fast and Furious Tokyo Drift? Those Japanese car club guys don't seem to friendly towards Americans. Plus do you even know how to drift in the Camaro?

Contact Delta Airlines Freight they ship cars all the time overseas. The ZL1 will fit in the belly the B400 no problem.

I have friends in Japan that own American Muscle cars, Camaro, Challenger, no Mustangs. Even they know Mustangs are chick cars.

It looks like you would need a "Carnet de Passages en Douane" to have your car in Japan temporarily.
Check you the following links For Visitors Bringing Vehicles with Carnet de Passages en Douane http://www.jaf.or.jp/e/carnet.htm All about the CPD (Carnet de Passages en Douane) and the Triptych http://www.fia.com/mobility-world-motion/cpd Carnet crucial when doing Japan in a van http://www.japantimes.co.jp/communit.../#.U1We0PldUg0 Good luck, this sounds like an awesome trip if you can make it happen.
