Lite throttle noise?
I have a 2ss with CAI. I think i have a strange noise. At very minimal throttle the engine seems to make a growly noise, almost like its lugging. Is this normal?
Ps. I had a v6 with cai and it most definetly did not make this type of noise.

I think what you might be referring to is the AFM or Active Fuel Management kicking in. It's shifting from 4 cylinders to 8, normal under light throttle response. You will also hear the same rumble under hard throttle too.

My car sometimes makes a deep hollow sound when the engine is lugging.
My AFM is tuned off. I have cold air intake. It prob just some intake manifold noise. I can also hear the hissing sound form it as well.

I think I know the sound you are referring to. At light throttle mine sounds almost like it has an exhaust leak and this is regardless of it's in V4 or V8 mode. My guess is that it's coming through the sound tube as I can't hear it if I'm under the hood or under the car.
I'm thinking that what I'm hearing is the injectors ticking and the sound tube is amplifying the sound. Waiting for someone to come out with a bolt in solution for removing the sound tube as it's obnoxious at best. |
