irpq11 needs help. Car here this week. Question.

Ok guys. I need your help. Dealer faxed my full price this morning to the office. $43,996.02

Acceptable to me. Remember, I ordered the 21" wheels. Anyway, this price is lock stock and barrel. After tax-tag-and everything. The only thing is the 'Undercoat'. 600.00 for the undercoat. I've heard and been told not to do it that it voids the factory warranty.

Should I let them undercoat or not? . Thanx in advance.

I've heard that all cars come with an undercoating of some kind on them from the factory, but I really have no idea. But I'll bump your thread

No need to do it Alabama. How much snow and salt do you see down there??

Id just take it to an undercar rinse every few months (I grew up on the gulf as well but in TX) and you should be good. No need to waste more money!

Hell yes I'm ready. So, no undercoat. Anyone know if it voids the warranty for rust or anything else?

Congratulations!!! Do not get the undercoat. It is just another way for the dealer to make money on $20 worth of material. I used to spray undercoat at a Mazda dealership and there is no way to do a neat job. You'll be sorry everytime you crawl under your car. All new cars have a type of wax dip coating from the factory whether it's black or clear. The dealer undercoatings will eventually crack and form pockets that will hold water against the body.

irpq11,

Your in the South.

Ya got no snow and the salt that comes with it.

The only thing an undercoat would do for you, is trap any moisture that was there when they applied it, if they even do!

It is simply a way for them to put they're hand in your pocket.

Call them NOW.

Tell them NO.

On a side note...good news! Your car, like mine, isn't on the tracker! (Gives me some hope that it's coming soon ) Hehe.

(Did you get factory stripes?)

+1, NO it wont void your warranty. Cars now-a-days are much more resilient to the salt or what ever they are putting on the roads than 30 years ago.

More over, if they try to tell you that it will void your warranty if they dont put it on, then ask them why it didnt come with it from the factory. Because it's not REQUIRED! Just like everyone else is saying, dont waste your money, that's 500 bucks pure profit for the dealership, and that's it. Especially in AL, you wont need it.

If it voided your warranty not to have it.... the factory would apply it.

Salt on the roads in Alabama ??? .... maybe when the next Ice Age begins.

I second everyone. in fact I used to work at a place that was a subcontractor for dealers to put that stuff on cars. I don't even remember the exact price but the tubs of the stuff was REALLY cheap and in reality it was crap. Don't waste the money!
