Harsh Ride: Like riding on a go kart.... try it for a trip somewhere.

Other than that... I guess you can turn up the radio volume in the 28 in order to compensate for all the road noise due to no insulation.
The ride in the Z/28 should not be harsh. We have run 305/30/19s since 2009 with coilovers and spring rates up to 14kg front and rear. The 4kg coils might work with full slicks, but were too hard for anything close t a street tire. Running 10kg and 12 kg coils with the 305s delivers a ride that is surprising civil. The spring rates in the Z/28 have not been released, but my guess is they are lower probably close to our 8kg front and 10kg rear base coilover setup or a bit under. The special DSSV Z/28 tuned strut valving addresses harshness with well tuned high and low speed damping. The ZL1 with MRC will ride better in touring mode, but the ZL1 in full track mode shouldn't be all that different than the Z/28.

As for road noise, there are quite a few ZL1 owners that pull the exhaust fuse or change out the exhaust because they think it too quiet. Having the option to be as quiet as the ZL1 is a plus.

I will hold you to that! lol. Never seen you post something that was not accurate. That puts it around 10 seconds faster than the ZL1. Friggin impressive, and actually about what I expected for 70-75K Camaro. Rock on Chevy!

Well my 1970 Chevelle had no insulation, no sound deadening, no A/C, no radio, warn out shocks, warn out springs, shot bushings, no functioning interior lights and flooded if I punched it, so I think I could handle a slightly harsh ride.

I say we Pedderise Mike Lee's Z/28 and take it to the ring. I'll do the setup and suspension. You can do the driving. We'll send our bill to Mike Lee.

Overall, that's an awesome run for a heavy Camaro and if you subtracted an estimated 6 seconds for the wet conditions, the Z/28 is running in the midst of some fairly formidable company.
In the driver's defense, there are not many places at the Nordschleife where you can have an off without seriously damaging the car. I don't know any other track that requires the same level of commitment to get a fast lap. During my visits there I saw three cars totaled before lunch on one damp Sunday morning!

Also, those tires must be unbelievably squirrelly in such cold and damp conditions. I have to say that, on average, he maintained a high level of commitment during the lap. I agree with your assessment that the entire track was likely damp.

Some have said they should hire a hot-shoe local to drive the car. While I'd love to see Patrick Simon (he used to hold the lap record for street cars) drive the car, these people don't have the same dedication to the program that a GM employee has. I don't know how many prototypes they have running around, but they may not be able to afford crashing any at this point -- and hot shoes tend to crash every now and then.

DONE!!!

And Mike said he wouldn't mind at all if we did some hot laps taking along several single passengers one at a time... Looks like we'll be out there for a while...
