New guy

hey fellas great site!! I literally just purchased my first camaro or V8 for that matter lol it's a 2010 SS 27k on the ODO I've been getting most of my info from a buddy of mine who had one cammed out and all the bells and whistles my goal is to build an all around bad ass everything car but till that happens I'm gonna start with the basics: getting to know the car. I'd like some advise on what experiences with what parts and what brands have been proven to look, sound and perform as it should also what to be cautious with as far as rev limit, temperatures I should be weary of. I'm wanting to replace my factory plugs and wires to start off with something any recommendations? Brands, wire size? Thanks for the help!!

There's no need to replace the plug and wires. Id start with CAI, LT headers, exhaust, ported tb, maybe a 25% under drive pulley, then a tune to pull it all together. It's how i approached it and im thoroughly impressed. As far as brands, you will get all sorts of opinions but in all actuality, they are all going to give about the same. Doing a little research before you buy will help greatly to the family and be sure to post lots of pics

Welcome and sorry you are now broken...you will never want to drive anything short of a V8 again.

Some quick and easy mods to get into are a cold air intake (I prefer Rotofab, but CAI and Vararam are good too), ported throttle body (Bo White is the best, but not taking work for a few more months), and then some sort of exhaust mod (Solo is the only way to fly in my book, but Borla and Corsa are highly praised on here as well). After all of that go for long tube headers with or without high flow cats depending on where you live, but to get the most out of all of these mods you'll want a tune at this point.

Just something to keep in mind when you're buying, you don't have to always go for the most expensive parts available, but if something seems like way to good of a deal new, it probably is and will end up being junk. For example, there are far more people who hate their ebay exhaust systems than like them.

CONGRATS on your ride and Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to Camaro5. There is a BIG fridge on the back porch with anything you can think of in it...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. Make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom's, dad's, wives', husband's, girlfriend's and boyfriend's here don't care....and take it easy.

oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.

Welcome!!

Welcome.

Like Mike said above, get familiar with the local H-Town Camaro Club. There are a lot of active Houston area member that would happily share their modding experiences with you. (good, bad, and otherwise.)

Here's the first thread you need to read.

The Guide: 5th Gen Camaro Modification.
