Relax lol and at the same time. I've had my Z coupe upto 160 stock. Here's my question, on a Z vert would the Pillars be able to hold up to that kind of stress from all the air pressure against the front glass?
From a safety point though and whether or not the top is up, you guys roll that thing at higher speeds you have no chance of walking away. Albeit rolling it at 155 I still don't know if one could walk away. Personally and in my own opinion I think it was a good call by GM to limit the vert to that.

I ran a 97 SS vert -Mods mainly was engine and suspension- back in 1999 to 170 mph (I stayed on that speed for a whole minute, don't ask me where I did this), the air pressure sounds around the front wind shield was the main reason I didn't go further, after that run I didn't have any structure damage to the top.
Which makes me think that C5 vert should have a better structural integrity than C4 vert, since it's 15 years later.. Otherwise if its the same I would say don't go over 160 mph in a vert because the sounds alone are scary enough. |
