Sorry if this sounds negative upfront, but I just don't get what you’re doing. All the magazines reviews say the SS doesn't sound that great. It's not the engine; it's the stock exhaust that is making it not sound like a 426 hp V8. Also, stock mufflers are always heavy and restrictive because there trying to lower the sound DB in the car via a quit exhaust. The MRT or SLP seem like they have a great sound and probably increase HP a little. That’s just my .02

Not really negative, just the reason in blue above seems pretty valid. Plus sound is a subjective characteristic.

Axle back (mufflers and tips) at SLP run $404 - $629. MRT $429. Not saying right or wrong, just a price point difference over LS3/L99.

Well, I have the LS3, and this will be the FIRST car I am NOT changing out the
exhaust because I love the sound. It is also getting better with more mileage.
Sound is subjective, but the growl of my LS3 is SWEET! Now I have heard the L99 sounds much tamer, although I don't know. I have not heard one. LS3 is the perfect mix in my opinion. Mean when you want it to be, but it can be tame
if you need it to be. I can't ask for more than that.

i think the goal here is not only to save money but upgrade the exhaust so that it sound like an American V6 and not like a Honda with a fart can. Deleting the muffler on a v6 is a very aggressive, and to some, a bit of a turn off. Even most aftermarket systems are very aggressive sounding. and a bit too raspy. this is a direct replacement and gives better flow without going to far on the sound increase, but improves the tone.

many v6 mustang owners that have looked/listened to exhaust videos would tell you the FRPP(ford racing) exhaust sounds the best due to it using factory GT mufflers, with out being over the top in the raspy area.

Thing is just switching the stock V6 muffler to a GT take-off muffler was good for like 10RWHP... and if you thought the 2010 V6 Camaro was quiet, my 2005 V6 was even quieter!

Also the Mustangs mufflers are tucked up, pretty much out of sight... part of the reason I did the exhaust on my Camaro was for looks! I just didn't care for those big canisters... new exhaust looks SOOOO much better!
