With the economy in the tank, I wonder if this is the beginning of the Mad Max era.
I’m be driving my SS Camaro a couple years from now saying
…The last of the V8 Interceptors….
(less black leather, gun, and Aussie accent)

If you have a TB SS you don't need a new one just need to care for it. Actually means the value +++ on your existing TB SS cause rare factor from the discontinue.

As far as modding... this is good news for aftermarket perpformance shops.

Funny how economy works one thing dies and another is born.

Also, I'm very glad to learn this isn't affecting SS ; at least it looks like I'll be able to afford THAT car, LOL! That'll make the wifey happier. I'll just have to add a TVS, KB, or Whipple on her I guess

I don't see why they wouldn't want a car that's making money and not costing them (per se).
The reason the z06 and the zr1 aren't included in that is because the corvette team is not affiliated with the performance group at gm. they're their own separate entity.

It does suck that there will be no more HHR SS or Cobalt SS. They were both great performance options for both models. I really like my 2008 HHR SS. It sort of reminds me of old 66 SS Novas. Small, but kick ass!

What cars other than the ones mentioned will this affect?

You guys are out of your minds!! Who cares about the Z-28 now?! Do you want GM to commit suicide and prevent any chance they might have to somehow survive this mess and keep working on versions of this Camaro that won't sell enough to make it worthwhile for the company?! Seriously. Get your priorities straight people!

Well, worry no more! GM spokesperson Vince Muniga has addressed this concern of ours. He has told InsideLine that:
"You've got the Camaro SS coming out. It is not threatened at all" and will be coming out as planned.

The Camaro SS, Corvette ZR1 and Z06 were all developed as regular production models, and not through the HPVO unit. Hence, all of these vehicles are safe.

Now I cant wait to get my C6Z.

What was wrong with them?

Glad to hear SS and Camaro in general are still on.

Got a call from my sales man today saying MY SS was scheduled to start production March 16th. Guess mine will be the second one rolling off the line behind Rick Hendrick's! NOT!

It would have been exciting to hear that if I did not already know production is to start up on March 16th anyway. Hope that is still the date and I can't freakin wait! No rhyme intended! I hope we get offered some type of discounts from GM since we are buying vehicles. Maybe a break on financing or something.

Good luck with that. I have an 800 credit rating and I'm staring down the barrel of 8.1%. Have fun getting robbed my friend.
