Exclamation HELP! Blue spray paint can exploded in the garage!!

I had a blue spray paint can explode in the garage the other day and I didn't think anything of it till I went to detail the Camaro and my wife car the other day! It honestly looks like my car has blue metal flake in it! (Both cars are black) Its not bad but when you get up on the car you can see it or when you look at the hood at a very steep angle you can tell it looks like there is blue dust all over the hood...

What do I do!!!

I've read many things from using chemicals to get it off then waxing it.

I've also read about wet sanding it then waxing it.

I've done everything mechanically inclined with vehicles except for body/paint work? Is this something I can do or pay for a professional to do it?

Note: All chemicals/Aerosol cans are now in a cabinet.

Try using a Clay bar. That will remove fresh light overspray.

I'd try porta-cable & fine swirl remover. Contact Junkman from Adam's Polishes. Always best for advice from an expert. Good luck. Pics might get ya some better feedback.

I have found that as long as you have a factory paint, as in no re-paint work, you can use lacquer thinner to take it off. Should work really well. Just find some soft rags to use and change them out often. Then you may require a buffing but at the very least a good wax job.

Please call me if you have any ?'s on proceeding in this manner. be happy to discuss.

It is factory paint. Do I need to dilute the lacquer thinner, and is there a certain kind I need to use?

Use the clay bar first. If that doesn't work then you can begin to get more aggressive

Clay bar worked for me when a body shop got overspay ALL over my car when simply painting a bumber.. sheesh. Only I know it's still in my convertible top. :(

I'll third this suggestion. If the paint had any dust on it, or was recently waxed, a little overspray should wipe right off with a claybar.

You won't need thinner.
Just use the clay bar and apply a coat of wax/sealant afterwards.

Meguiars has a hot line that you can call and talk to experts. Free too. Go to their website, get the number and call them directly. I too believe a clay bar would work, (keep using new clay a lot because you'll be picking up paint chips) but I suggest you call the experts and see what they recommend.

The lacquer thinner may sound extreme to some but its faster, helps you get in all the tight areas easier. Coming from a guy who has done a lot of painting and final detailing in his life.

By all means do what you are comfortable with. With all the waxing you have done the clay bar will work great also.
