Do ground effects come painted?

Can anyone answer to me if the ground effects when ordered on the car come painted to match or are they still argent metallic like when you order the ground effects from over the parts counter?

not painted but you can ask your dealer if they will paint them to match the car!

They do not come color matched and it is not an option that you can order. Some dealers will paint them I was quoted $600.

They don't come on the car. Your dealer has to install them and yes they are gray unless you pay to have them sprayed!!

And if you do get them painted, it voids the warranty on the ground effects. I know, its ridiculous.

thanks

I have the chance to order them still on my car but I don't think I will as I don't think I will like them on a silver car. I can order them for 1600.00 and spend the other 600 on more parts. Now if they were painted to match you could bet they would be on my car.

My dealer will paint mine to match body color at no extra cost. Painting should not void the GFX warranty but dealers may not warranty the paint since I think the painting the GFX is not recommended. If not prepped properly, it won't take long for paint to develop cracks and peeling off which is why dealers may not warranty it.

Actually, no. If you paint the ground effects, the warranty will be void. GM released a bulletin that said this. Even if the dealership is the one painting the GFX, if something happens to them, the warranty on them is null and void.

I am not saying you are wrong and maybe I looked at the wrong verbage but it did see, "Painting the GFX is not recommended". I wonder what painting does to the GFX that would cause the warranty to be voided. It is not mechanical and painting them does not affect the way it is installed in any way at all. I wonder if GM thinks paint causes the GFX to deteriorate? Nevertheless, mine will be painted mainly because unpainted GFX just doesn't look right on an IOM car, IMHO. I think, you can get away leaving it unpainted on a IBM, SIM, RJT, and black car and still looks great.

Well, I will see how much the dealer will charge me. If it's too much, I will leave them the color they come in. I know a few people that do auto painting/body work and see if they can do it for a reasonable price. I agree, I have seen pictures of the IOM with the unpainted GFX and some with them painted to match. The GFX painted to match look way better.

Also, what is void on the warranty, just the warranty on the GFX or the entire car?
