quick performance question
I have seen some discussion on cat back exhaust for the V6 so I figured I would tap it with the V8....
I heard the sound of the V8 at indy and it sounded fantastic, obviously the cat back will offer some less restrictive aspects and increases as far as performance...but what about sound? Would anyone take an educated guess on how it would manipulate the sound of the already throaty V8? and last...Looking at the aftermarket photos/charts from indy... this probably sounds really stupid, but what the hell is a diffuser? |

I think it'll give it a great growl almost like you d expect to see a truck w big chrome pipes! A diffuser is the molded rear underbody of the car to help improve aerodynamics and aids w downforce I cant wait to try it out!

the diffuser they made does not do anything substantial for aerodynamics on this car. the accesorries manager told me that the only piece that made a substantial difference was the blade spoiler.
also you can expect the cat back to be very loud.

I think a catback with cutouts is going to be in my car's future. I'd love to have side exhaust but don't think it's really feasible so I'll probably look toward GMPP or Borla.

well he said it was good enough they wanted to do a run of 50 special edition cars with them installed so they could be used in NHRA Pro street classes, but the idea got shot down. so i think they make a difference how much you ask? i dont know. Do i Want one anyways? HELL YES

Regular Production Option for the chambered exhaust on the 1969 Camaro. It was so loud it was removed from production mid year. You could get the same effect by deleting the mufflers on the new Camaro and welding in some Sweet Thunders.

My one big gripe about the new Camaro, next to the narrow trunk opening, is the unpainted rear diffuser. Why can't they just paint it like the rest of the car? After all, this is a sports car, not a truck or low-end economy car! Is GM afraid that the exhaust will stain it? I just don't get it.

I thought the black was to thin the car out, and not make it look so bulky.

I'm planning on entire custom exhaust including high flow cats and headers when they become available. I'm thinking let it exhale then teach it how to inhale. GT500's for breakfast?

personally not a fan of the bulky muffler/box things right behind the rear bumper, should move mufflers up and just do a tailpipe setup, unless they are claiming some sort of structural integrity thing, but i dont see how that could be an issue |
