Went ahead and did straight pipes. (video)
Having had the Camaro SS for almost 4 months now (over 7k mi) I have grown to like it better and better. One thing that I was growing to dislike was the un-muscular sound it makes. The car felt like Lance Armstrong, plenty of power but still shooting blanks.
I started debating what to do with the exhaust since before I even got the car. After watching videos and reading threads, I decided there is no 'right' way, there is only the way you choose. In this case I went with the 'less is more' theory. Least amount of muffler and least amount of $$$ to get it done. I woke up Friday and drove straight to the muffler shop, they did not want to do it said it would be too loud, but I payed them and they did it. Cut out the resonators and deleted the mufflers and put some big ass tips on. Oh, and we left the cats. The result, I have decided, is perfect for me!

Tips are a little too big for my taste, but you'll enjoy the straight pipe sound. The popping gets a little annoying, but I heard installing a Magnaflow X-Pipe greatly reduces it and improves the sound it makes. I'm planning on adding it when I get back from Afghanistan.
Here's a link if you want to check it out. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MPE-10791

I acutally like the resonated X-pipe (Magnaflow #11386). Check out this thread and you can hear the difference between the Tru-X and the #11386.
http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=66288 Oh....and don't forget to call JDP Motorsports to get the best prices on Magnaflow parts. Look around for pricing and then call JDP and you'll see.

The popping when I left off the throttle is starting to get a little annoying so I might put in an x-pipe. Thanks for the comments guys.

Not a bad price considering how much aftermarket exhaust's are for the camaro.
I would have haggled a bit with the muffler shop! I was quoted $400 for my 3" exhaust with 5" tips, talked him down to $250! Your car sounds killer now! |

sounds ok but i still think you are better off going with LT headers cause you will get more HP gain and it sounds way better. you wont even need to remove the mufflers.
