A year?!? Was I lied to?
I've been debating for a while between the Ford Mustang and Dodge Challenger, but I've recently decided to go with the Camaro.
I'm about ready to trade in my current car and place in order, so I called a local Chevy dealer of mine. He told me that I can place an allocation with a check for $1,000 and that once they get the prices (he said they don't even know about the pricing and packages yet) I can decide what I want later on, to place an actual order. He said he already has about 10 orders, and that no matter which dealer I order from, I probably wouldn't have my car for another year. Was I lied to? Or did this guy not know what he was talking about? |

this guy is very ignorant. tell him to just check gmlaunches.com and find out the ordering info. refer him to this site for other stuff.
as far as options and packages, here's the first ordering workbook to give you an idea http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7790 here's the pricing we have so far, and many dealers will sell for MSRP or less http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8239

Demand will be greater than supply when these cars first come out, but I doubt it will take you a year to find what you want at a price your willing to pay. I'm taking a wait and see attitude. I chose to wait over a year to get my GT500 because I was unwilling to pay over MSRP for it. I really didn't care if i was one of the first people to have one or not. In the end, it really doesn't matter.

Ordering information was released back in October about 2 months ago. The cost of the car and all options were released at that time.

No way it's gonna take you a year to get your car, GM is hoping to sell a crapload of these. I'd go to a different dealer if possible, and ask them.

No one came out and said otherwise so who is right and who is wrong???? I asked for Scott or Camaro Scotty to shed some light on this as I was very upset when I first read it but no one ever did. I finally deleted my post. They will send cars to dealers who earned the allocation regardless of how many orders a particular dealer has. Here is why, lets say a guy like me know the camaros will sell quickly at first what would stop me from submitting 25 dummy orders to garner those vehciles for myself to sell? Chevy has an allocation system they come up with based on performance in a few different areas depending on what model it is typically it will be previous model sales but they factor in other things as well. I dont like it either but am just trying to explain it to you. There will be many of you have have "ordered" your Camaros who will not get them next year and there will be some of you who walk into a dealership and buy one right off the showrooom floor. Sad but true. I agree they should fill ALL confirmed sold orders. I am hearing that everyone who earned allocation are all going to get just 1 at first starting on the west coast and moving east. Then the next wave will have a few more of your earned allocation in them. I was told that NO one was getting multiple Camaros on the first shipment. This was not good news but was expected none the less. |

When you hear words like "probably," you should be very skeptical. A dealer does not know how GM operates from within. Besides your dealer being a complete idiot, your dealer can't predict what allocation other dealers have. Go to other dealers for your business.
As with any car that you order, you will have to wait. I know of people who waited over 3 months for a Cobalt SS. Expect as long or longer for a Camaro SS. This car will be highly demanded, but orders will be filled to the best of GM's ability.
