Bolted on v6 vs v8

Okay, I seem to have confused WAY to many people with my thread,

Here is my revision and hopefully will be a little more clear.

I was told that my engines horsepower could not ever go above what the engine is capable of doing, which is 312 HP. (Unless you add nitrous/supercharge/turbocharge it)

That being said, of course you wont get 312 stock from the dealer, usually its about 15-20 percent loss to the back end.

That being said, when you upgrade your vehicle with mods that allow for better air flow (Like exhaust/porting manifolds/Cold air intakes/whatever other bolts ons) it will lower that 15-20 percent loss depending on the mods you do

So for example you throw on long tube headers/tune you would lose only 10 percent instead bringing your horsepower to the rear end to 250 isntead of 230.

My question is, Do the same rules apply for the v8's in the camaro world?

I ask because I have seen some amazing numbers around the board from the V8 dyno's and just curious as to if they can achieve more horespower then there engine is labelled.

Remember here folks: I don't know much about 8's except that: They have 2 more valves and they are faster.

I am a V6 driver but would love to learn the V8 vehicle so I know my competition a little better for when I get my nitrous kit.

Ok bolt ons increase horsepower period. Im assuming your using 304 as an example since you have a 2010 v6. Just as a future reference you actually have 312 (yay) But adding any typical bolt on will increase RWHP and Crank horsepower. same with the v8

I'd stick with the Mighty Demon carb and add a high rise.

Bolt ons work fine.

And not sure what you mean by engine types but so far the 5th gen Camaro has seen

LLT (V6 Rated at 312)
LFX (v6 Rated at 323)
L99 (V8 Automatic Transmission rated at 400)
LS3 (V8 Manual Transmission Rated at 426)

So with all that being said...Does it really make sense saying someone for example like Gretchen having 580+ RWHP only has 323 Crank HP? Not at all In reality he probably has near 700 HP to the crank...Which if you think about it sounds friggin crazy...
