Who is up for an install day for the dash ABL? (Updated)

Hey everyone,

I've been PM'ing 2SSRS back and forth since I saw that Mindz jumped in and got ABL installed on his dash.

I'm going to pull the trigger and have mine done now as well and wanted to see how much interest there is in getting together and having an "install party".

2SSRS will be coming out from AZ to do this. It looks like all the parts can be had for about $100 and I'm sure there should be enough interest to make it worth his while to make the trip to So Cal to get us all lit up.

I'm in between Temecula and Riverside, if you're willing to make the drive all are welcome. I have plenty of room to to do multiple cars at once.

According to 2SSRS the install time is about 2 hours. I think he can get all the parts required as long as he knows how many are wanting to get this done and what color ABL you have.

UPDATE


If you have Blue ABL and would like to change the color to, lets go with Red, it is possible, HOWEVER, the led's are ordered from Detroit and need to be PRE ORDERED. To keep 2SSRS from coming out of pocket for all the expenses, a small deposit will be required so they can be ordered. It looks like $30 for the deposit will get what ever color you want ordered (where are you Synergy guys now?)

If you DO NOT currently have ABL and would like it, don't feel left out. If you can get the panels and trim pieces in time for the install date, you too can leave with ABL. I was told to expect this to come up, so now you know. It is about $400 for the panels new, but I've seen way too many wrecked camaro's to not think that you can find them in a wrecking yard if you are on a budget. I'm pretty sure that AAC sells them also.

As for the date, since the Red LED's need to be ordered, and to give those who want to do this time to get said LED's ordered, we are going to move this back just a little bit. 2SSRS has a HUD install to do for Pyro in the Bay Area in two weekends and it would take at least that long to get the parts. The following weekend is a long holiday weekend and I would never ask someone to come to SoCal on a holiday weekend.

So, we are looking @ September 10th (11th if needed) to do the installs. I realize that this is opening weekend for Football, so of course the Games will be on in the house. I'm sure my Wife and Daughter will be no where in sight do to this.

Now for the important stuff, the $$$. 2SSRS will be selling all the parts required @ his cost. He can't post the prices, so I will

Dash only:

3 LED's @ $20 each = $60
1 light pipe @ $25
1 Splitter @ $10
Parts total is $95, Install price is $60 for a grand total of $155.

This will get you the same look that Mindz has in the pictures in post #15.


Dash and door color change:

5 LED's @ $20 each = $100
1 light pipe @ $25
1 Splitter @ $10 ****
Parts total is $135, Install price is $60 for a grand total of $195.

****If you need a plug and play harnesses that is $50 but you don't need the splitter, so add $40 to the total.


Adding ABL to a car that doesn't have it:

5 LED's @ $20 each = $100
1 light pipe @ $25
1 Splitter @ $10 (I would assume you need the harness, but not sure)
Parts total is $135, Install price is $60 for a grand total of $195.

If you want different color LED's, let me know and I will contact 2SSRS and let him know the total and who to shoot an invoice to so they can get ordered. Sunday August 28th is the last day to get your order in and be able to ensure that the LED's are in on time for the install date.

How hard would it be to switch out my blue ABLE in the doors for red and then have the dash done red too?? I'd make the drive down again!

Not sure but I'll ask. Make sure you have room for a huge piece of plastic too.

To do the doors to Red i need to remove the Door panels and replace the LED's and that is it, but if you guys all want the same look as Mindz then the door panels on all your cars need to come off, If you look at mindz car and your cars you will see on his door panels the light goes all the way to the dash, And on your cars they do not.

There is paint on the last 3" of the trim and that stops the light from getting all the way to the end, I will need to sand it for the right look.

Depending on where and when this is I may be able to join also to help out. I have already done the install and Ofer has tweaked it some. I have this all the way across my dash, did the 3 inch sand and tape removal myself, and Ofer and I have been working on making the rest of the edges of the door panel show up like the concept. Bottom part shows, just not as well as the top.
