Canada barely even counts as foreign anyway. What's really different about them? So they put gravy on their fries, use the metric system, say "zed," and their #2 language is French instead of Spanish. So what?

I had a guy try to argue with me that the new Camaros were built in Texas. I corrected him and he kept insisting and I just said whatever and went about my business.

My 2004 sierra Denali was built in Canada and I love it. Have two very food friends that live in Canada.

We should've just invaded Canada when we had the chance. Then nobody would be complaining... j/k

But seriously, I don't see anything wrong with the car being built in Canada. The "profits" stay in the US for the most part. Yes, being an American, I'd like to see more jobs in America. But unfortunately, this is a competitive market and GM has to do whatever it takes to remain competitive (while maintaining quality, I hope!). No offense to any Canadians, I know you guys need the jobs too!

Its ALL North Americans faults for buying foreign in the first place that helped sink the economy in both our countries. Does it matter where in North America the Camaro is built? Someone in Detroit F'D something up for the hand out that caused the slide in the first place. Was it over pricing "American made cars"? Or the North American people got sick of buying our own brand cars? We need to support OUR industry and heritage and not get too bent on where in North America the car is built. Toyota's are built in Canada too and no one cares about that? Just ask an Asian.

I think the VW / Mexico problem is a VW problem -- engineering or poor management of Mexican assembly. I have a 2002 Avalanche which was assembled in Mexico and it remains the absolute best vehicle I have owned from a quality standpoint. I have 60,000+ miles on it and it remains a terrific vehicle. I have only 350+ on my Camaro but my early feeling is that the Avalanche will remain my absolute highest quality vehicle owned to date. Don't get me wrong -- I absolutely love driving the Camaro. And the Camaro has very solid quality. And time may prove my Camaro exceeding my terrific Avalanche experience. But I don't pin either on point of assembly -- I give my accolades to the General Motors Corporation for designing and building two very satisfying vehicles for me.
