Cost to have Radio Programed

Hey guys,
I just got my PDIM and steering wheel radio controls put in a few days ago. I went to the dealership today to have the radio programed for the PDIM and steering wheel controls and they told me they couldn't program either without contacting GM (I've already waited 2 hours at this point for them to tell me that) and that it would cost $600 to do the full programming!!

Correct me if I'm wrong but it shouldn't cost that much just to program the radio and BCM. I already did the labor of putting the parts in. So how much does it cost to have this done?

I have a 2011 Camaro LS that was built September 2010 (if that matters)

I asked if they could add navigation to my system since I already have the touch screen. I thought it would be like adding another program to the computer. Every body tells me it can't be done and I couldn't even take one from another car because these radios are code matched by VIN. WTF!? It would also cost minimum 1500 dollars. So 600 sounds good IF they can do it.

I don't recall the restrictions and/or differences between models and PDIM's, but from what I recall, it's a straight forward process that only takes a few minutes. So charge would likely just be the going hourly rate. If they are charging $600, they are doing more than just programming.

And no, the dealer can't just add NAV. There is much more involved than just programming. The entire unit (they are different) needs to be swapped out and programmed (plus other misc stuff). Check out gen5diy.com

yes it is matched to the vin. they just have to reprogram it. The dealer wont add Nav to a non nav mylink. Thats a hack. It can be done.
