Key/Fob recall options

For me, I'd take the push button start/new fob and even pay a few bucks.

Would Like That Option But, I've Got A Manual - That Option Is Only Available For Automatic's

My dad's 2007 Corvette has push button start and it's a manual. Just press the clutch pedal and press the button.

I was wondering if I could go in and purchase 1 new set (1 key and 1 fob) that I could use if I needed to take the car into the dealership.... and keep my fobs safe at home. I have a long time to go on my warranty still.

Corvette has had it available for a number of years for their manuals as well as Dodge with the Challengers and Cadillac for the CTS-V's.

I don't want to pay the extra for it, but if they want to upgrade me then I'd be willing to take the upgrade for free. Really the only complaint I have about the key fob is occasionally locking the car or popping the trunk from my pocket.

Voted "Want GM to Convert to Push Button Start/Real Fob (and willing to pay)". On another thread someone posted they received a GM survey...would they be willing to pay $150 to get a push button start. $150 sound reasonable for the upgrade. However, here in Canada they would most likely charge $200 or more and I would say no.

Also read on a thread (yes I have read every page of every thread regarding this issue) some people are receiving 2 sets of new keys w/new separate fobs, and can keep their existing switchblade key/fobs as well. Think this is the ideal solution. That way I could sign off the recall has been satisfied, but I still have the option of using my existing switchblade.

Until GM offers a better solution then removing the key from my existing fob, "Not Changing/Will NOT sign waiver".

I just picked up my new 2014 2SS on 7/2, and I didn't get an option of any sort. He just walked out to me with the key + fob....

You are thinking of remote start not push button start.

This looks disgusting. I don't think anyone is going to turn in their flip key/keyfob for this two piece of junk.

Minimum they could have done was provide a key with buttons on it (like the civics, accords, etc out there).

You would think GM wouldn't cheap out for a car like Camaro.. but wow..

Has anyone actually bumped the fob with their knee? How long are your legs and how close are you sitting to the steering wheel for that to happen?

As a taller than normal person (7' tall), I'm yet to bump the key. Actually, once the recall discussions begun I tried to hit the key and I found it rather difficult to do in a manner that could actually turn the car off.
