"Strange" smell inside ...

Hey guys .... me again ...

Just got my car 2 days ago ... my car is a 1SS with cloth interior .... and my wife and I both have noticed that the interior of the car has a rather peculiar smell associated with it ...

No, not like the B.O. smell from Seinfeld ....

Normally you have the "new car" smell everyone looks forward to, and the smell of a new car with leather interior is unmistakable ... but this is something very different ... something undescribable .... not BAD, but not all that pleasant, either ....

Anyone else have a similar occurance?

Thanks!

I have the leather and I noticed something a little "off" once in a while too. Most of the time, it does smell like new car and leather, but just once in a while, it has an odd odor. I don't know how to describe it either.

Just a thought, but look all around underneath for a dead critter. Its a long way from Canada to SoCal, something could have come along for the ride.

Had a "smell" also, It took a while (2months) but it finally faded, I sprayed some lysol down the vent in front of the windshield, it seemed to help

No painted engine cover .... and not musty or a dead critter ....
It's very hard to describe ...
The closest I can describe is this ... you know when you cut a piece of plastic, you get that very specific heated plastic smell? It's kinda like that ... but not.
But it's ALL THE TIME, not just after it's been run ... if the car is closed up and not used all day and you get in it, it's there ... as soon as you open the door.
My wife and I have had a number of new cars over the years ... and God knows I've been in thousands of used/abused/junk cars over the years ... and I've never smelled this smell before ...
I guess I'll just hope it fades away with time ...

I can kind of describe it as a funky cinammon smell. But mine isn't all the time.

Mine smelt a bit like that, only when it was just a few days old. It was the new parts being heated up that caused that. Now I don't have it anymore.

Maybe that is all it is.

Or is there a tag that was on your exhaust that has burnt off?

Oh, the plastic smell? Yeah, I remember smelling that in the beginning, too. And the exhaust had a strong smell. But finally after almost 3 months, I don't smell that anymore.
