Emissions?

Im getting some LT's and I want to tune out the (and remove) EGR/AIR system, and tune out the rear O2 sensors. All OR requires for emissions is the OBD scan. Will I pass? heres what my emissions cert looks like

OBD results:
Misfire: ready
fuel system: ready
comprehensive: ready
catalyst: ready
DLC: pass
Smoke: pass
Noise: pass

OBD sensor stat:
catalyst: unsupported
evaporative: ready
2nd Air:ready
AC: Unsupported
COMM: Pass
O2 sensor: ready
02 heater: ready
EGR: ready

thanx

Well, I know that there are tests that are run over different driving conditions and parameters (i.e. starting a a stop and increasing speed 1/2 throttle to 50 MPH and then coasting to like 30 MPH or something a few times) that the PCM must check as okay. I believe of all the tests the PCM runs and tests, three or five have to have been run or passed. I don't know about your unsupported results though... A smog tech' should be able to tell you though.

a lot of places are converting over to no longer doing a sniffer test, just hooking up to the diagnostic port and seeing if the engine is showing any abnormal emissions.

which if you tune out the post o2 sensors, you shouldn't have a problem. tho if they do a visual inspection, they might ping you on having no cats. unless you are going to spend the money to do a high flow cat setup that will need to be fabbed into the y-pipe

I plan on getting high flow cats...but what about the egr/air? can I remove/delete those so I can get race headers?

of course. you said you are getting longtubes, are you planning true duals or an ORY? and where are you getting them from?

reason I ask, is depending on which you are doing and where you get them from, will depend on your options for running the cats.

what catback are you running or planning on running? jw.

hit up my buddy shon at www.herronperformance.com tell him Greg Norris sent you.

Ceramic coated Pacesetter longtubes with ORY for roughly $500.00 shipped.

then you can just remove the AIR and EGR stuff and get a tune for the rear o2 sensors and the EGR/AIR stuff to pass emissions testing. and if I remember right, Shon does LS1 mail order tunes as well for about $165.00
