lbs/hp ratio
What kind of weight to horsepower ratios are you guys expecting for the base model Camaro to have? What are everyone's thoughts?
I was just doing some math, and not taking into consideration many other factors, such as TQ, aerodynamics, engine displacement, suspension, etc, a 405 hp Camaro theoretically would be equivalent to a 375hp Camaro weighing in at roughly 3600 lbs. This is assuming that the new Camaro is a fat pig (3900lbs) and has 405 hp. That's what, a LS1 6M with an exhaust (375hp)? |

Oh, when I say "base model Camaro" I mean the base model V8 Camaro.

"Fat Pig" is a phrase reserved for Challenger.
Even IF the Camaro comes in that hefty, the team will make it feel right. But anyways...if I was to offer up a guess....I'd say it'll land somewhere in the neighborhood of 9.5-10 lbs/hp. |

GM has had plenty of time to make things right. I'm sure power to weight ratio will be one of them.

the great things about modular gm enignes is how easily "extra" performance is to attain... even 'if' we just get the accliamed ls3... gains will come on failry early and they will be most likely warrenty-able, examble ls3 cam...
header gaines have been very strong on ls3 vettes and tuning alone can yield big gain... this is a good idea.... giving us a good benchmark and building block while still constricting to the bs gov'nt

I'd assume a power to weight ratio of about 0.12 hp/lbs.
I'm guessing at 420 hp for the base V8 (LS3) and a curb weight of 3,500 lbm. These numbers are derived from the 2006 GTO (400 hp @ 3,725 lbs). |

Personally, I think the curb weight will be about 3650lbs.

I think a Camaro weighing in at 3800 pounds and having 420 hp/tq would be a very good package. I want a Camaro that runs like a raped ape. I'm thinking along the lines of a Camaro that will start pulling on a 2002 WS-6 or Camaro SS.
