My new CAI by Cold Air Inductions, Inc. = AWESOME!!!
I recently had my new cold air intake installed by James at Cold Air Inductions, Inc. in southeast Michigan. I don't think they have any pics for the 5th gen up yet on their website but I'm betting mine are better (I'm a photographer by profession.. lol) anyway. They are currently looking to expand their business, and as a small business owner myself I was happy to discuss what they could do for me in terms of a new CAI for my Camaro.
I don't have any performance numbers yet (and won't for a while) but these guys are going to be featured in the CAI shootout so I thought I'd plug my $.02 on what they did for me. I'm not an extremely knowledgeable car guy, but I am super impressed with the look, build quality, and noticeable power difference their piece has created for my L99 2SS. Right from the start you will notice the box and tube are made from aluminum and the weld beads are very sturdy and look great. I believe the inside of the tube is a ceramic material that has a low heat transfer. The filter has been custom designed for them and uses an 8-layer oiled filter (most use 4-layer, right?). When I started it up for the first time after installation I didn't notice much just cruising through the neighborhood, but once I got out on the road and stepped on it... VOOOOOMMMM! I could really hear the throaty sound of air rushing into the engine. The new sound alone was enough for me! Not sure if all CAI's sound this good, but the sound definitely impressed me. I just wanted to post a couple pics of this since I believe it's a very good alternative to what everyone else seems to be talking about. I considered the roto-fab and ADM models, as well as the new Vararam that's coming out, but I just thought the look of this CAI was irresistible. Most of the air boxes are being built from cheap plastic and this thing is all aluminum w/ a plexiglass top... and it even has insulation inside the air box! The screws that hold the top of the air box are quarter-tight screws that loosen with loose change or your fingernail. Very easy to get to the washer fluid. I was told the cost will be roughly $400 and is tbd. I got mine free in exchange for allowing them my car for the install pics in their instruction manual . Ok, enough talking. Here's some pics: |

Very similar in style to ADM Performance CAI. Indeed the plexiglass portion has me going, Wow! Love the lines in respect to the conformity to the hood as well. I am liking the looks of this thing! I sent this intake manufacturer an email regarding wholesale dealer status just now. Hope I can help them sell a few of these along with our other great products.

Looks really sweet to me! I like enclosed filter boxes and at first I thought it was like the rest, but then I read that it was plexiglass so that was a sigh of relief.

I got to say that these guys just UPed the ante BIG TIME! I would think that their number will be really good too. I had another CAI in mind but now i am seriously considering this one above all else.

I don't have any. Talk to James! I do know that the other intakes they've made for their other non-camaro customers have got some great gains. I would expect this to be in line with pretty much all the others out there.. probably 12-20hp w/o a tune, maybe a little more w/ tune. It's pretty dang awesome looking to boot! :-)

Looks like they have some kind of extra heat shield inside the enclosure as well. Interesting. Wonder how effective that is? Any running vehicle temperature tests with and without that stuff?
