What does a $1200 dent look like?

I am SUCH an idiot. Over the weekend I was installing the new ******** box I bought from another member. I was holding the box, swung around and nailed the car. Unfortunately the paint cracked around the dent. End results...$1200 to fix the dent and repaint the quarter panel (all the way up and over the door). It's in the body shop now... Sorry for the crappy cell phone pic, but here it is:

That's too much IMO. I had a small dent in the same area, although a bit smaller and it cost $495. They blended the paint and recleared the entire rear quarter and door rail (basically everywhere there was continuous paint.) Dropping bumper and removing rear quarter window was included.

Paintless dent repair wouldn't work as the paint was cracked pretty bad at the top of the dent. I checked with multiple body shops, this was not the cheapest estimate but also not the most expensive. This shop was the cleanest and had lots of referals that all checke out.

Yeah, I got an estimate for blending (spot painting) which came in around $500. I decided to go with a full strip/repaint. Perhaps the blend would have been fine, but seems 'safer' to me to repaint the entire thing.

Yep. It isn't that the dent is bad, for that price I think it could have been much larger. It's just the prep work to paint the panel. Stupid thing goes from the back, up over the windw and ends up at the hood...

I see. I'm bringing my car in tomorrow to Carsmetics to fix some dents I got from turning into my tiny garage too sharply and absolutely effed up my quarter panel from the gills all the way to the back of the back driver side wheel. . I have a feeling I might have to claim insurance
