This is a bit insane just to get the oil pan off. Good thing it's still under warranty. I assume the intake had to come off so they can attach the lift to it? Seems wierd otherwise.

I had an F350 4x4 that had to have the cab removed to do the engine work. Got it fixed, depleted the savings to pay the bill, and then i sold it. Used the money from the sell to buy the Camaro. Hopefully i won't have to rinse and repeat with my car in a cpl years. lol

if i ever have to remove the pan on mine for any reason, im going to cut out the factory cross brace and make a tubular bolt in one,,, if that cross brace isnt there you can drop the pan straight down.

Car is back, took 12 hrs! Like a few of you have mentioned, if the one crossmember had been bolt in, this would be a driveway job. Even my tech said that, lol.

Hopefully, this was a one time deal, lol!

Yeah, the "lift" goes between the strut towers in the engine bay. They even have to relocate the wiring that runs around the passenger side tower. It is a hassle, straight and simple. Although, not as bad as a Ford F250-350 series truck it seems, lol.

I am baffled by the front engine cover and intake removal.

Intake comes off to allow engine support to be put on as sub frame comes out. Front cover has to come off to allow oil pans removal. I'm guessing it is covering something, or prevents something from being removed to allow the oil pan to come off.

does anybody know if this only on the 3.6 V6? My Camaro is at the dealer right now with the same issue of a "oil pan leak" but they told me an hour ago that it would be done today, but there is only four left until they close. Thanks. Oh, I have the LS3.

My L99 V8 had an oil pan leak as well. I had it repaired under warranty back in 08/2010. On delivery day, I found oil leaking (a lot) from the transmission weep hole. I took it back the next day and they could not find the leak. They cleaned it up. After another 13 months and 4500 miles, the leak was visible again. That's when they located the leak and replaced the oil pan gasket.

Since the repair, no more oil leaks (so far). I've driven it about 2500 miles since the repair.

Yes, unfortunately it is the same on the LS3 and L99 cars. I'm going to probably cut the brace out and replace it with a bolt-on version at some point. Who knows, maybe BMR or Pfadt will make a really good tubular one at some point.

Well, that explains some of why it's taken a week to do mine;
I dropped it off at George Chevrolet, Lakewood, CA, Last Friday evening
and was told Tuesday, then Wednesday, then Thursday...
...it's Friday now and I'm waiting on a call - hopefully no more delay.

And it's JUST THE PAN they are addressing. I've got a CC installed and it's
caught over a quart of oil in 2000 miles; GM won't address it until the dealer has
done a 'consumption test'. Sheesh!

Well I guess kudos to Larry H. Miller Chevrolet for their fast service. I took my car in this morning for an oil change at 7:30am. They notified Me that I had the leak. I didn't even know. They offered me a ride home in their shuttle or asked if I wanted a loaner for the day. I told them thanks but I'd just have My Wife come pick me up so we could go out to breakfast! At 11:00am they notified me that it was the oil pan gasket. At 2:47pm they called to tell me it was done. So they only had my Camaro there for seven hours! Either they lied about the leak just to stick GM for a warranty claim or they're mechanics are really good. I want to believe that it's the later.

Just got back from the Dealership and was told I have the dreaded oil pan leak....didn't even make it to 7000 miles.

Appointment is Thursday to get it fixed, but after reading this thread and not seeing a drop of oil on the garage floor I'm tempted to put it off a while.....seems crazy to take the whole front of the motor apart to change a gasket, and I'm thinking I can expect bigger problems due to the disassembly and reassembly than this minor oil leak.

UPDATE: I was only at the Dealership 45 minutes and it's all fixed...it was an O Ring seal on one of the oil cooler lines. I'm very glad It wasn't the pan seal, as the guys at the dealership said they had only done one pan seal on a new Camaro and it was a PITA.
