New Camaro owner, help, opinions...

Hi Everyone,

1st time poster, long time reader of the boards. I finally made the switch from being a Trans Am owner. A month ago, I purchased a 2014 A 2LT/RS.

I added a factory ZL1 hood, added a aftermarket carbon fiber insert, changed the exhaust to Magnaflow, and just installed a K & N Typhoon CAI.

So far I love the car, after reading the boards, I knew of the pros and cons. I just had a few questions. After installing the CAI, the car revs past 5000, is that normal?

The car does seem to give me the added power that I was looking for, but did not expect to feel such a "push" when I pass a car doing a lane change, almost feels like a gush of wind pushing the car. Not sure if it is a combination of the CAI, and the ZL1 hood. Any help would be appreciated.

Idle?

Driving?

Parked, revving engine so that you can listen to the exhaust?

If

Idle, no

Driving ok

Parked, why...

Enjoy looks nice.

Soooo, What did you mean by revs past 5000 rpm? Did you mean that it seems to hold a lower gear longer when getting on it?? BTW ,your car looks absolutely amazing.

get a catch can right now to protect your intake and valves.

OP, are you saying the car rev's that high when stopped or idle or when you put your foot on the gas?

Some CAI's require a tune to work correctly. Not sure about K&N on a V6.

What year was your Trans Am? Not to insult you but you have 323 ponies under that hood and some people forget that when they do a "normal" acceleration.

I have a Roto-Rab installed on my SS. There should be no rev difference at idle for the stock intake to the cold air intake. If you are idling at 5k rpm, that is not normal and I would re-install the stock air intake to see if you have the same issue.

BTW your hood looks much better than the stock 14 hood.

CONGRATS on your ride and Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to Camaro5. There is a BIG fridge on the back porch with anything you can think of in it...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. Make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom's, dad's, wives', husband's, girlfriend's and boyfriend's here don't care....and take it easy.

oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.

Welcome!!
