Where do these low mileage cars come from?
I know that not everyone drives 20-25 thousand miles a year like I do, but as I look at used models listed for sale on line I'm wondering just how there are so many very low mileage models available.
Examples: Also, since I've bought most of my cars new, I'm wondering what margins are these cars being listed at with these dealer ads? How much room is there to negotiate with the sellers? With new cars you can simply go to Edmunds and the like and see exactly what invoice is, what hold backs there are, etc. Any help would be appreciated, and thanks for your reply in advance.

Not that hard to do...some people get them as a second car (mid life crisis, etc),only drive them on weekends or during Spring/Summer and early Fall.
I fall into that catergory my car only has 3,600 miles and it's a 2009

I imagine they come from people wanting to either trade up and get a SS from a lower trim, or bought it and decided they didn't like it, bought it and realized they couldn't afford it,bought it cause it was the hottest new thing to have and now it isn't anymore, medical bills, babies came into the picture, lots of reasons. You might be surprised how many people get a different car every year or every other year or so.
I'm trading in mine for a 2SS. it's a 2011 CGM and has about 6-7k miles on it and i've had it over a year. So that'll be another one out there soon for someone to buy

Mine, 1 yr. old 5500 miles
We're retired. Our long trips are usually for skiing and fly fishing and we use our 4x4 Envoy for those. Our Camaro is what the Brits used to call a cigarette fetcher.

Yeah I don't get it either. I have had my car almost 2 years and I have almost 30,000 miles so far. I can't imagine owning this car and driving a beater for 6 months of the year. Its a car. Drive the bitch.

My former Camaro is one of those low mileage used cars now. 8K in the six months I had her, only driven on weekends. Just wasn't the car for me. I wanted a Corvette originally but convinced myself I could not afford one, also convinced myself the Vette just was not practical enough and a Camaro was nice compromise.
So I bought my SS. I also foolishly bought it in automatic thinking the tapshifting would satisfy (nope). Six months later, a deal came up on a very nice manual Corvette, and decided to make the trade as the Camaro's trade in value was damn near what I bought it for. Now shes sitting used at an Atlanta Carmax. I just hope I dont see her strolling around again someday sporting chrome and 30" wheels. Simply, just wasn't the car I wanted. Unfortunately it took me six months after purchase to figure it out.

I couldn't use mine as a DD even if I wanted to. My job (mobile DJ) requires me to haul music equipment 4 nights a week in my 2002 AWD minivan. I also won't drive the Camaro in bad weather, because my van is better for that. I have two very different vehicles, and use them appropriately.

2011 mileage
In exactly 20 days from now it'll be one year since I picked my car up from the dealership. I currently have 5,723 miles on it. I am retired and I just drive it locally.
