If you opt for lowering coils, there shouldn't be a need to reinstall your stock coils. If you want coilovers, don't do the lowering coils. Hold on to your cash and be that much closer to your coilovers

No need to go back to stock after a year! Just leave them on and replace the whole assembly with the coilovers when you get them. You'll have to get an alignment with the lowering springs so you'd have to re-align if you go back to stock. Also, the car will already be aligned for the new ride height with the springs so you can set up the coilovers at the same height so alignment won't be an issue.

as long as you don’t drive it like you stole it.. then the normal recommendation of 50k still applies

Going to be either the PFADT track day road course, OR AutoX and a little drag, just for fun Probably won't track her very often outside of the 'Fest, so most DD duty...

To get the most out of your lowering coils be sure to time your bushes to the new ride height. With the bushes timed the next step is a tight spec alignment. Get your rear cambers set to the lowest negative camber possible i.e -.7 or -.5 Castor is fixed from the factory Front camber -1 Front toe 0 Rear camber as noted above, less negative is better especially in a hard launch Rear toe 0 Thrust angle 0 |

Is there somewhere I can get details on how to achieve these adjustments? I had been told an alignment would be in order after the springs, but that's about the extent of my knowledge in that area Revo1 = ubernoob

I wouldn't worry about it! Any reputable shop or dealership can do the alignment and I'm sure Pete or BMR guy can help them with the alignment specs and just what bush's need timing!

I'm aware of bushings, is this something different?

No, it's what the Aussies call bushings. Bushes=bushings
Here's my take on the whole shock detriment thing. Coils for me are temporary until I get out of college this year and get a "real job" and can afford coilovers. So I don't really care if they ruin the stock shocks, because they are getting yanked as soon as I can afford the real deal. That's why I bought the cheapest coils I could find (Eibach).
