That is the write up on the tire that is from the Tire Rack web site, but it is pretty much a copy from the Goodyear web site as well.

All the info you need about a tire is on the tire.
I have a 2006 Z06 in the garage along with the ZL1. The Z06 Goodyears say EMT, Extended Mobility, in other words run flats. I could not find EMT, Zero Pressure or any of the other terms used to denote run flats on the ZL1 tires. When you buy a Corvette you also receive a separate warranty from Goodyear that spells out the proper use of run flats. This warranty was not in the glove box.

The tires are Run Flats....this is the only super car g2 tire they make. Straight off the Goodyear site like Rob said.

i take that back....when you go to Tirerack and do original replacement, there is a F1 G2 that is not a run flat, that is not listed on the Goodyear site.http://www.tirerack.com/tires/TireSe...&filterType=oe

This is confusing and I have seen several other threads related to the tires that all refer to them as run flats. If you go to the Goodyear site and put in replacement tires, they only offer one tire and it is the run flat. My car is at home and I will look at the tires tonight, but I am pretty sure they are run flats. I was told that was why there is no spare and only the pump - because they are run flats, so no need to put on a spare to drive to a service provider.

I think that we have a case of saving a few dollars in a dumb place. It appears that the ZL1 factory tires are NOT run flats. The tire that comes on the car has no indication that it is a run flat and all information about the tires has been left out of the owner's manual packet. The Goodyear G2 Supercar tire is clearly a run flat when you buy it from Goodyear, but I have to assume that chevy worked a deal for special production version that are not run flats. Very disapointing.

Not disapointing at all. Run flats ride like a brick. And so you all know that ALL tire companys will make tires in run flat form and non run flat form. The car companys are looking for different things in handling and dictate to the tire companys all the time. I do understand that some people like the security of a run flat, but the bottom line is the non run flat tire will out perform the run flat tire.

This. Not about cost savings at all. Vipers and Vettes used to come with run flats but trended away from that to gain performance in recent years. It is the nature of competition.

I suspect that those saying run flats don't perform have never driven a car with Michellin PS2s. They come standard on the ZR1 Corvette. At the Ron Fellows Corvette racing school, they take the Goodyears off the Z06, Grand Sport and Base corvettes and put PS2s on them and say it is the most significant modification you can do to those cars to make them handle and perform better on the track (and to pick up several seconds). You may be absolutely right about Goodyear run flats, I don't know - my comment was based on the quality of the Michellin PS2s which from my experience and what others who are significantly better drivers than I have said. I will just wait until these Goodyear's wear out and put Michellins PS2s on instead.
